What is a Modular Pumptrack?

A Modular Pumptrack is different to the traditional BMX or MTB track as they are designed with the perfect form to allow perpetual motion with a simple “pumping up and down” motion, rather than requiring pedalling.

This means any wheeled sport can be done on a Modular Pumptrack and with the perfect form comes the most fun you can have on wheels! Most people, upon their first ride on a Modular Pumptrack are amazed at just how easy and enjoyable it is. The perfect form means a smooth and easy riding motion with banked turns which do the work for you.

The best way to understand the reasons why are to simply ride it. You’ll be hooked, which is why we say “ride it again”.

Modular Pumptracks can be simultaneously enjoyed by all ages with all ability levels from beginner to expert. The structures are modular, flexible and moveable to suit any type of terrain and land usage issues. They can be made from various kinds of materials and colours to suit the needs of the client and match their surroundings. They can be installed permanently, semi permanently and even temporarily for special events.

All of Bikeparkitect’s structures are certified by TUV to respect the unified EU norms for safety in children’s playgrounds: EN-1176-1:2009 and EN-1176-7:2009.

Timber Composite

The timber framed track is Bikeparkitect’s original and most versatile product. These structures have proven their durability in the harshest environments: from the deserts in Dubai to the snow of the French Alps. Top quality timber is cut and treated to protect against water and insects, and all fasteners are rust proof.

Bikeparkitect’s Modular Pumptrack System has various build methods using different types of materials. All use patented, award winning, modular design and can be tailored to suit the needs of the local riders, the budget and the surroundings.

Added to the timber frame is a fibreglass composite riding surface to give the perfect nonslip riding solution. Engineered for long life, low maintenance and high grip, this riding surface gives instant confidence to everyone riding the track.

Timber modular tracks are light enough to be transported to events and strong enough to be installed permanently in public spaces.

From the early stages of riding a balance bike or scooter for a 3 year old, to the hard-to-keep-entertained teenagers and adults of all ages and abilities, a Modular Pumptrack is fun for everyone. With little or no danger of major injury due to minimal jump heights and low speeds, a Modular Pumptrack can not only engage multiple abilities but all at the same time. It is easy to have 10 or more riders on a track at once with each having minimal impact on the others. Passing is relatively easy where there is a speed differential and younger riders can even ride virtually side by side.

Health and Safety Certificates

Traditional build methods like dirt or asphalt are difficult to certify and can be expensive to insure. Bikeparkitect’s Modular Pumptracks have health and safety certificates for each module giving the investor piece of mind while maintaining the ability to be creative with materials, track length, and custom layouts.

Low Maintenance Costs

The yearly cost of maintaining a Modular Pumptrack is significantly lower than any other build method. With materials like dirt, clay, pour in place concrete or asphalt, investors will need to constantly check for and repair damage from everyday use, weather and erosion.

Modular Pumptracks are significantly less expensive than most other materials because of their prefabricated nature. The cost of wholesale materials vs retail and the shorter time required to manufacture in a controlled environment ensures the investor gets the most “pump” for their money.

Installation Method Choice

All Modular Pumptrack products can either be installed temporarily without the need for project documentation or building permits; OR permanently as part of a larger scale recreational facility, playground or park feature.

Movability

If for some reason, at some time in the future, the track needs to be relocated, it is just a matter of hours to disassemble and reinstall the pumptrack in a new location. For this reason Modular Pumptracks retain their value and can be resold at any point during their lifetime.


FAQSHow long does it take to assemble a Modular Pumptrack?The average time for assembly is approximately 5 minutes per module per person. This means that a “Speed Ring” track can be installed by 2 people in about 90 minutes and a “World Cup” track in about 3 hours. On average disassembly takes roughly half as long as assembly.

On what surfaces can a Modular Pumptrack be installed?The product can be installed on any flat surface not exceeding a 5% slope. The surface should be relatively smooth and free of any debris. The structure is not designed to span over undulations in the terrain and should be firmly in contact with the ground under all of its contact points.

What is the Riding Surface made from?The riding surfaces are made of fibreglass composite material with a layer of an anti-slip system that Bikeparkitect developed in house with pro riders from all disciplines of wheeled sports and material experts. It can be easily repaired and repainted with materials that you can find at any hardware store.

Does the Modular Pumptrack come with a warranty? Yes. For timber composite modules Modular Pumptrack offer a 2 year warranty against all manufacturing and material defects and the precast concrete tracks come with a 15 year warranty.

How much space are we going to need?The Modular Pumptrack system can be custom fitted to any size area. The minimum size is 6x17m and the maximum size is UNLIMITED, whatever your budget and imagination can accommodate.

Can we request custom colours? Yes. There is a small surcharge for custom colour on the composite riding surface and manufacturing time is longer (6 weeks minimum) because these are not stock items. The fibreglass resin is saturated with the chosen colour so that even when the surface is scratched the same colour is found throughout the whole thickness. The sides of all of the parts are always the same colour.

How long is the structure going to last?The minimum life expectancy of the timber composite tracks is 10 years. The precast concrete tracks are expected to last for over 20 years. These figures take into consideration properly scheduled maintenance and care.
