welcome to Germany‘s most creative neiGhbourhood!
vollbracht. Das Programm der all2gethernow 2010 liegt
Euch nun in gedruckter Form vor. What a moment!
One thing is already clear: all2gethernow2010 - for the
fi rst time run as the BERLIN MUSIC WEEK CONFERENCE
is breaking records. During six days, starting Monday
September 6 until Saturday September 11 more than
250 speakers of the music and creative industries
from all over the world will share their knowledge.
Compared to last years edition, we have not only
doubled the amount of days but increased the amounts
of sessions drastically. We‘re confi dent: Whatever you
need to know about the business, you should fi nd out
during Berlin Music Week. This booklet should serve
as a navigator through the vast Know How that will be
around.
(To follow our program and get even more information
in realtime visit a2n2010.sched.org, which also works
perfectly well on your mobile devices)
Doch wofür steht die all2gethernow 2010 eigentlich
noch? Im Vorjahr, in vielen Veröff entlichungen als
„Popkommalternative“ bezeichnete, kurzfristig

Also
alles beim Alten? Mitnichten!
schnellen Chartserfolg zielen, weiterhin verlieren
kulturelle Nischen ihren Rückhalt oder werden
zerstört. Berlin ist das Zentrum der Musik-IT Wirtschaft
mit einer Start Up- und Unternehmensdichte, die
weltweit ihresgleichen sucht.
unterschiedlichen Perspektiven beleuchtet.
all2gethernow was founded to excercise open and
participative structures, which inclines that we also
go places that hurt. We are tackling thorny issues and
irritate sometimes.
In preparing the BERLIN MUSIC WEEK CONFERENCE
there were many such encounters. But now, we‘re
ready. It‘s done. Let the sessions begin.
all2gethernow is a new music and culture
convention, an open invitation to all affi liated with the
music industry and bordering cultural and creative
branches – from artists, to music enterprises, media,
web providers, politicians or interested users and fans –
to share experiences and visions, expand thoughts on
how to take the workings of the industry to the next
level.
a2n moderates, puts the focus on fi nding solutions,
developing ideas and most importantly: learning
from each other. Thinking ahead through creative
and collaborative exchange is the main focus of
all2gethernow.
all2gethernow e.V. was founded in Berlin in the
summer of 2009 as a reaction following last years
sudden cancellation of the traditional tradeshow
Popkomm.
Music executives, managers from the creative
industries, organizers of the worldwide digital-
culture conference „re:publica” as well as other
representatives of the Berlin cultural and media circles
united to create a new platform for an open dialogue
outside the genre and typical hierarchically set
confi nements.

It should be mentioned that no
trackbacks could be monitored at
Native Instruments, as they do not
blog. Given the fact that NI has over
200.000 users worldwide in their
Online Forum, they would most
likely be by far number 1 on the list,
if they would blog.

You’ll fi nd them in all the right spots: Mitte, Prenzlauer
Berg and Kreuzberg. They use funky offi ce space and have
hordes of badly shaved nerds on board who simply rule
the world with their programming skills.
In order to create the a2n-Top Ten ranking of the sexiest
music-IT-employers in town, we added followers, FB
friends and blog trackbacks and divided the sum through
the companies respective years alive. Also provided: The

Was zieht bei Meinungsmachern, Labels, Verlagen,

On Monday September 6, 10 a.m. the BERLIN MUSIC
WEEK will be opened with #a2n_camp.
For 2 days, the Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg
will turn into a buzzing “think and do tank”.
Over 250 speakers from around the world, 7 diff erent
rooms, over 40 sessions per day - great minds
are gathering to share ideas about scenarios for a
forward thinking music eco-system.
Das Programm ist partizipativ, mit Beiträgen vieler
Akteure gemeinsam entstanden.

On Friday Sept 10 and Saturday Sept 11 a new format will
be introduced: The #a2n_forum.
Building on the results of #a2n_camp and #a2n_congress
some of the performing artists of the BERLIN FESTIVAL
as well as interested fans will be involved in the dialogue
about professional aspects of the music business.
Truly “all together now”.
Fragen?
The #a2n_forum will conclude a week full of inspirations
and should provide an educated guess on what to expect
from the future of the industry.

I always enjoy gatherings of creative people willing to discuss new and diff erent ideas for innovation, creation, economics and business.
Bringing together people in an industry going through disruptive change is a chance to connect with and be inspired by people who are taking chances, experimenting brilliantly and catching glimpses of what the world ahead will be like.

„Medien und Entertainment sind meine
Leidenschaft“, so Alexander Elbertzhagen.
Gerade in
spannender.“
Der Kölner Journalist und Medienunternehmer
Alexander Elbertzhagen schrieb als Manager von
Stars wie Herbert Grönemeyer und Marius Müller-
Westernhagen in den 80er und 90er Jahren deutsche
Musikgeschichte.
Mit der 1991 gegründeten Agentur POSITION Institut für
Kommunikation leistete er im PR-Bereich die Basisarbeit
für den Musikfernsehsender VIVA.
Hinzu kamen der Aufbau der Musikmesse Popkomm
und die Etablierung des Deutschen Musikpreises
ECHO in Zusammenarbeit mit der Deutschen Phono-
Akademie.
Mit POOL POSITION MANAGEMENT hat Elbertzhagen
seit 1996 die heute größte Firma für Künstler-
Management im deutschsprachigen Raum aufgebaut.
Die hier betreuten Persönlichkeiten gehören zu
den Topstars der Entertainment-Branche, darunter
Michelle Hunziker, Christine Neubauer, Barbara

er seiner Gruppe weitere Unternehmen hinzu. All

Erholung

MARIUSMÜLLERMARIUSMÜLLERMARIUS
WESTERN-HAGEN
extravaganten Stadiontourneen in Erinnerung

Opera in New York erfolgreich vormacht, werden
Seh- und Ausgehgewohnheiten verändern und
weiter entwickeln. Der unique Aspekt von Live,
nämlich mit Gleichgesinnten und gleich Begeisterten
physisch zusammen sein zu können (in Abgrenzung
zu den virtuellen Welten wie z.B. Facebook), bleibt

Zoë Keating is a one-woman orchestra. She uses a
cello and a foot-controlled laptop to record layer upon
layer of cello, to create lush, beautiful and otherworldy
music.
Born in Canada and classically trained from the age of
eight, Zoe spent her 20‘s dabbling in computer software
while moonlighting as a cellist in rock bands. Inevitably,
she combined the two and developed her now
signature style while improvising for late night crowds
at her San Francisco warehouse.
Zoë‘s self-released albums have sold 30,000 copies
and several times been #1 on the iTunes classical
and electronica charts. She has performed her music
live on National Public Radio, on television, outdoors
in the Nevada desert, in medieval churches, in punk
clubs, and before thousands of screaming teenagers
in mainstream rock venues across North America and
Europe.
Zoë has worked with a wide range of artists, including
Imogen Heap, Mark Isham, Curt Smith, The Dresden
Dolls, Rasputina, DJ Shadow, and Paolo Nutini. From
2002 to 2006 she was a member of the cello-rock trio
Rasputina. Most recently, Zoë has been composing
music for fi lm and ballet. In 2008 she performed her
music live with the Valencia ballet, she composed
music for a documentary called „Ghostbird“ about the
Ivory-Billed Woodpecker, and performed her signature
layered cello on Mark Isham‘s score for „The Secret
Life of Bees“. She is featured on Amanda Palmer‘s solo
release „Who Killed Amanda Palmer“ and supported
Ms. Palmer on her 2008 European and North American
tours.
Zoë is a recipient of a 2009 performing arts grant from
the Creative Capital foundation. Her new self-released
album, „Into The Trees“ is available since March 2010.

JOHNNY KLIMEK
Composer JOHNNY KLIMEK is bringing a fresh
approach to fi lm scoring. While capable of the
traditional means of creating music for fi lms, he loves
to experiment and do things diff erently; serving the
story and coming up with unique fl avors for the movies
he works on. Australian born Johnny Klimek moved
to Berlin in 1983 and together with his brother Alf

achieving worldwide chart success.
In 1987 he started operating his own studio in Berlin
and began working as a producer co-writer for artists
from the Berlin underground. In 1989 he became
involved in the electronic music scene and together
with Paul Browse (ex Clock dva) formed the electronic
music projects SYSTEM 01 featuring Timothy Leary and
Eff ective Force with various vinyl and CD releases.
At the same time he produced and co-wrote for
groundbreaking artists like Paul van Dyk, Laurent
Garnier, Gudrun Gut, Blixa Bargeld, Dr. Motte and many
other acts. One of the fi rst stages of JOHNNY KLIMEK
& REINHOLD HEIL collaboration was working on the
score for Tom Tykwer’s second feature Winter Sleepers,
which led to composing Twyker’s next fi lm Run Lola
Run.

have ensured that they have established themselves
in the American and international fi lm scene. They are

During this period, he established a moonlighting

His role at PRS for Music is to provide analytical support
to colleagues within the organisation and to provide
economic insight to the media industry as a whole.
His most notable work to date has been a collaboration
with Eric Garland of BigChampagne titled ‘In Rainbows,
On Torrents’, which asked whether the Radiohead legal
free off ering could compete with illegal free. He also
challenged the popular Long Tail theory, illustrating
how the demand for digital music followed a log
normal distribution - where the gap between hits and
niche widens, as opposed to narrows.
His most recent work has been focused on the impact
of ‘editorial’ in digital media markets, and this has
involved exclusive collaborations with services like We7

REINHOLD HEIL
Reinhold Heil, born and raised in West Germany,
moved to the former West Berlin at age 19 to study
classical music production and piano at the Academy
of Arts. With his fi rst band he recorded two albums of
fusion jazz, only to return to eclectic pop by joining
the original Nina Hagen Band in 1977, with gold and
platinum albums all over Europe coming out of this
formation. When Hagen left the in 1979, the four
remaining members formed the group Spliff , and built
their own recording studio and publishing company
in Berlin.
Over the next fi ve years the band released four albums
awarded again with gold and platinum – as well as
two feature fi lm soundtracks. Not limiting himself to
performing, and based on his education and studio
experience, Reinhold also began to produce albums of
various artists such as Nena, who’s 99 Luftballons was
a massive worldwide hit.
Reinhold went on to work with many solo artists and
bands, most prominently the Rainbirds, Rio Reiser
and British recording artist Kim Wilde. Reinhold
then ventured into another area of music when he
composed Baroque and Renaissance style music for
a Shakespeare production at the renowned Schiller
Theater in Berlin. He then made the transition from the
theatrical stage to the silver screen, composing music
for fi lms, which is where Johnny Klimek entered the
picture.
Heil and Klimek’s works, such as Run Lola Run, One

were nominated for a World Soundtrack Award) have
