Stalin wanted to fight two front war against Germany.

Refused, not enough resources say Stalin and Roosevelt.

July 1943 British and America launch first attack on Sicily, defeating Italian forces.

Germans are defeated at Stalingrad

Stalin defended in namesake city, in every house.

Hitler suffered heavy losses at Stalingrad.

The Allies Push Toward Germany

On June 6, 1944, the allies stormed France at Normandy.

Now known as D-Day.

The night before, troops were dropped over enemy lines.

Allied ships carried 156,000 troops at dawn.

Germans are now under constant bombing.

The allies’ point was to shut down all German industry, decrease German morale. It worked well.

Hamburg was rubbalized in the space of 10 days, killing 40.000 civilians
