In the mid-twentieth century, the English had been overcome by Irish and German immigrants Irish have immigrated to the USA since the eighteenth century, mostly Presby-terians and Scots-irlande-ses. The great famine that devastated Ireland in the 1840s spurred an incredible contingent of immigrants from Catholic Ireland.

More than one million people starved to death during this period. The Germans, who had already settled in regions such as Pennsylvania, began to immigrate in large numbers by economic factors.

Slavery was the primary fac -tor in the explosion of the Civil War: the North, and ma -nufacturing wage was aga-inst the expansion of the South, agriculture and sla-very.

After the war and the Nor-thern victory, the blacks we-re freed, however, they re-mained abandoned by the US government, doomed to poverty, as happened in Bra-zil.

But unlike Brazil that did not have racist laws, black Americans remained for decades subjected to various laws of racial prejudice. Until the 1960s, for example, african-Americans were considered inferior to whi-tes, and there were places where they could not live (railway cars, restaurants, squares, etc).

Canadian French would complete the largest contin -gents of immigrants in the twentieth century America. Between 1820 and 1930, they entered 5 million Ger-mans, 4.5 million Irish, 3.5 million British and 900,000 French Canada in the Uni-ted States.

In all, 500,000 Africans were brought to the lands of the southern United States, enslaved on the plantations, especially tobacco and cotton in Alabama, Virginia, in South Carolina and North, etc.

Based on the Triangular Trade, which involved settlers in Africa tro-dig rum and utensils for slaves who were sold in the Antilles and in co-lônias South, blacks arrived in the United States forming today a legion of almost 40 million african Americans.

001002003004005006007008009010011012013014015016017018019020021022023024025026027028

Currently, there are two the -ories that attempt to ex-plain the arrival of man to the American continent: the transoceanic theory and the Bering theory.

According to transoceanic theory, there are about 10,000 ye-ars the men who inhabited the Polynesia (in the region of Oceania) lo -comoted toward South America in small boats. These would have moved through the ocean currents that led them.

According to the theory of Bering, the man would have reached America across the Bering Strait, located between the eastern end of the Asian continent and the far west of the Ame -rican continent, the two points are separated by 85 km.

After the 1970s, pro-grams of reaffirmation raci-al and government incentives ha-ve improved the economic life of many african-ameri-pipes, while still figurem among the US poor. It is in the twentieth century that States Estados star in a movement migrates-tho-rium never before seen in human history. The con-quest of new terri -tories and the march to the West ferment inputs of many millions of immigrants.

According to this theory, the arrival of man to the Ameri-cas occurred approximately 50,000 years when Asian nomads crossed the Bering Strait; that period found himself frozen because of the ice age, thus forming a natural bridge between the two points.

From there the man migrated to the southern part of the American continent.

These are theories that have greater acceptance in scientific circles, but not sure about their afirmaçõe Native Americans were the first human inhabitants of the Americas, having arrived to that continent during the Pleistocene, a series of migra -tions from Siberia to Alas-ka, through of a land bri -dge that would have formed where today the Bering Stra -it.

In all, 500,000 Africans were brought to the lands of the southern United States, enslaved on the plantations, especially tobacco and cotton in Alabama, Virginia, in South Carolina and North, etc. Based on the Triangular Trade, which involved set-tlers in Africa, they exchan-ged rum and utensils for slaves who were sold in the Antilles and in the southern colonies, blacks arrived in the United States forming today a legion of almost 40 million african Ameri-.

Slavery was the primary factor in the explosion of the Civil War: the North, and ma -nufacturing wage was agai -nst the expansion of the South, agriculture and sla-very. After the war and the Northern victory, the blacks were freed, however, they remained abandoned by the US government, doomed to poverty, as happened in Bra-zil.

Nomadic people, these pri-meiros immigrants spreads throughout the ram conti-nent over several thousand years.

The decimation of indige-nous peoples began the action of the English colo-nists who came to settle there in the seventeenth century. The Indians were oblicattle to migrate to the West.

In the nineteenth century, the paddle-dosimeters Indians confrontaram up again with the settlers expanded to this region. Today, living in the us ape on the 2.5 million Indi-ans.

Europeans formed the mass immigration to the United States. This imition began with the colonization of the country, even in the sevente-enth century and lasted until the mid-1970s.

As colônias do Norte eram manufatureiras, urba-nizadas e assalariadas.

French and Spanish terri-tories were assimilated by the Americans, adding to the initial Thirteen Colo-nies several new territories. Indian nations were being slaughtered to make room for this expansion. The Northern colonies were manufacturing, urban and salaried. In turn, the Sou-therners were agrarian.

England lived a troubled ti-me. The official religion was the Anglican and therefore followers of various other Protestant nominations had become persecuted.

The fencing of the fields also contributed to thousands of people out of rural areas and rumassem to the cities, whi -ch were saturated. The way out of this religious nature of crisis and econômco was im migrating to North America.

The first English colony settled the success in North America was Jamestown, Virginia, in 1607. Pilgrims and Puritansthis beleceram in Massachusetts in subse-quent years.

Since then, thousands of Protestants moved to there, giving rise to the region kno-wn as New England, the in-Brião for the formation of the Thirteen Colonies and, consequently, the Uni the United States.

Fleeing religious persecu-tion, thousands of ale parent immigrated to Pen nsylvania from 1680. The eighteenth century was the brand by the arrival of large numbers of immigrants from Scotland and Ireland, who colonized the interior of the Thirteen Colonies.

These lap us were quickly assimilated into the dominant cul Englishra. It should be noted that embora divide the same ethno-cultural origin, the inhabitants of the Thir-teen colonies colorectal la-cked a national identity unifies -the. This feeling only emergeria time later, with the Independence of this from the States and solidifcaria with the end of the Civil War. As the settlers multiplied, their migration to the West expanded.

The English settlers formed in North America one so-ciety extremely religionosa, returning its efforts to reli-gion.

Illiteracy rates were lower than those found in Europe.

The explanation for this unusual fact is that, accor-ding to tra Protestant dição, man has free will interpre-tation of the Bible. For this, the settlers had to be obvi -amente, educated and alfabe -tizados.

To understand this-the United today, is worth Butt -ma analyze who foram their colonizers: pesple fleeing a stalker England-ground, which creates ram in North America a society of strong Protestant herity Calvinism, which propagated that work dignified man.

For the settlers, America was the land promised by God and hence they had a "civilizing mission" to oc-cupy the region and lead to its Anglo-Saxon culture called "superior" to "infe-rior" peoples. The same argument was raised at various times in American history, and we can turn it including the recent occu-pation of Iraq.

The Mayflower bringing one of the first groups of English settlers to North America.

It should be noted that many settlers came from other parts of Europe. In 1626 the Indians sold Manhattan Island for $ 25 for Dutch settlers occupied the region of the Hudson River and founding New Amsterdam, where he currently is New York.
