Handing Over Notes

DATE: 22 Mar 2014PLACE: ArgentinaDear,

Mr. , M.T Garnet Express welcomes you.

It is expected that we will get very less time for handing over, so I have tried my best to include all things in these pages. I hope the information below will help you familiarize with the general layout and operation of the ship

Will Give u a Copy of Ship Particulars. She has been delivered at Ulsan at 19-July-2013, She was on Veg Oil Trade for the first 3 Voyages and now she has been Loaded with Gasoil from Vent spills Latvia to Argentina. She is now chartered to Vitol for this Voyage, and is expected to back load in Argentina for Europe, Fareast or India. During my tenure I had 3 PSc Inspection, 3 Vetting, Flag State, External Audit and Internal Audit. There are No Outstanding Deficiencies/ Issues for Your Concern, Tech Supt Inspection Took Place twice during Yard Delivery and on 14 Jan to 31 Jan 2014, there is only one issue putting Anti Shatter Film in Bridge Windows for Anti-Piracy. Vessel is not having any fixed operating area, Presently Charts are available for Europe, South East Asia, India West Coast. Brazil and Argentina Port and Gulf of Mexico all the ports, Kindly Check in Digtrace for the availability of Charts as some of the charts are not been supplied and vessel used Scan Charts, Digitrace Inventory is been updated to the latest Charts and Publication received in Denmark. For Chart Correction we receive updates from Digitrace, on receiving the email save the file in c drive Digitrace, Updates, and then open Digitrace. All Charts and Publications have been Corrected upto wk 12/14 except Chart Catalogue as vessel is having Digital Chart Catalogue I did not do it from wk 04/14. C&C Marine are Licensed for Supply of Charts and Publications, before calling a port ask for auto updation excel sheet for the present week, C&C will come back with an Excel sheet of all the Charts and Publication expired On board, u can ask for the Charts and Publications giving the Address of Agent. But Pls do Check the Editions dates especially when receiving from C&C marine as I have received twice old edition. And also make sure when raising a requisition order the charts in ascending order so that they can be placed in the folio fast and can been checked easily.

Vessel is provided with Digital Catalogue and it can be updated through Update disk received for Ecdis. If you are going to use the Catalogue for Charts and Publications also then update it whenever u receive internet in port, it is a 5 mb file you can download in net. We also have a software e-navigator, I can show u the procedure to update, but I found Digital catalogue far user friendly.

For ordering ENC Permits for Ecdis also we can use Digital Catalogue, When ever u order just confirm that u don have the Permits already in Ecdis. Company Cries a lot to give Permits for suppling ENC Permits.

Cargo system/Framo

Vessel has 14 COT, 2 Slop Tanks and ROT. 14 WBT including FPK and APK.

The pipeline is simple will show the line up in CCR Personnely.

During Tank Cleaning I used to do 6ON6OFF with Chief officer, so prior departure plan your chart work as required.Charts and PublicationsBridge Equipments All equipments on bridge are user friendly and I am sure you will be used to them in no time. All equipments with a very few exception are of FURUNO make, which you may have already been versed with. The GMDSS console is being tested as in plan. All maintenance and correspondence is being made in the GMDSS Radio Log. Daily, Weekly and Monthly tests are all carried out and entered in the same apart from Amos. The vessel is equipped with two X-Band radar. Only radar no.1 is fitted with ARPA. The radars conditions are good and both are presently working satisfactory. Magnetron for Radar #2 had been changed in 03 Oct 10 and the Magnetron for Radar #1 in Apr 2011. PF Tests are carried out daily & monthly and found satisfactory. Same is also recorded in the radar log and bridge equipment file. Since last 1.5 months the fwd Sat C had a problem with printing (related msgs in 2nd off folder). It was attended by technician at Colombo and floppy drive was changed. Since then it is working fine.

Vessel has not received shore acknowledgement on MF/HF DSC since last December. Master and superintendent have been notified, and requisition raised in AMOS for technician. Same goes for WX Fax. Not received any fax since vessel came in Indian Ocean. Tried with many stations without any positive results. Requisition raised in AMOS for same.

Automatic blowing of aft fog horn is not working. E/off is looking in to the matter.

Automatic synchronization of master clock with other ships clocks is not working.

Other than this all other bridge equipments are working fine(.

A proper familiarization of bridge will be carried out by me in due course.

Inventory list of printers, paper rolls for various printers and OMCI stationary list is in inventory folder / 2nd off.

Vessel received GMDSS battery during dry dock but electrician has replaced it on 6th may.

The various Logs maintained on bridge are:

a) Deck Log Book

d) Bridge Movement Log

e) Radar Log

f) Enclosed Space Entry Log

g) Alcohol Test Log

Vessel is having sufficient inventory of logs except Deck Log Book, whose present stock is three, sufficient for 3 months, please dont forget to ask again before 3 months. Logs Inventory can be found in 2nd off / inventory folder. Various logs which are having OMCI name is to be pasted Shipcare logo.

Medical The Hospital is maintained by 2Of. All paper work regarding medicines including various forms and inventoy can be found in medical folder / 2nd off. Medical stores were received last at Chennai in Aug end except eye wash. Also note that vessel is note having any antidotes for any chemical as vessel is presently not carrying any chemical cargo. All I have asked for in the last requisition were of daily use which we now have in abandon.

The storage of medicines is a bit awkward, as there is not much space in hospital to keep medicines in shelf. Look for the Alphabet assigned to each set of medicines. Half of the medicines are kept in boxes in hospital. The medicines received at Chennai are not included in Inventory. Also refer the OMCI medicine List.

Hospital Call alarm is tested every Saturday by ELE OFF and is recorded by him in his Saturday routine.

One Oxygen resuscitator is kept in the C.C.R.

External unannounced Drug and Alcohol test was conducted in Chennai but vessel has still not received report for the same.

There are two automatic alcohol testing meter on board. Only one is having the certificate, which expires in Aug 2011. Sending it for calibration will cost same as buying new one. Please coordinate with master on this matter. The Monthly tests are carried out and recorded in the Drug and Alcohol test record file. Same signed by Master and witnessed by COF.Stationary Stationary Locker is maintained by 2OF. The stationary list has also been attached. Have sufficient stationary at present. Please keep a tab on the consumption of printer cartridges (especially CCR) as same has been found quite high. Important Points! All files as per 2OF filing system to be maintained. Every Sunday Amos export is carried out, weekly jobs done as per Amos to be reported by Saturday. I.D : 2OF

PASSWORD: omi

All relevant documents are maintained in the Our Documents/2of folder. Also in 2of on server: The LOG IN ID: 2of

PASSWORD: noroc0#4 As per the new U.K.C policy, once prepared, put in Our Docs / Msg out Folder for masters viewing. The least depth sheet at the port is sent to the office. AMVER reporting has been carried out regularly. As vessel operates in piracy high risk area, it is following UKMTO reporting. All reporting other then what sent by masters computer are filed in Nav Reportings file. Phone cards are issued by Capt. and kept under his custody. Monthly radio Account is prepared by Master. Private Calls are allowed on Fleet 77 after permission from master. Club account is also maintained and prepared by Master and during my contract I had no role to play in it. Vessel had BHP vetting in Colombo after a very very long time. No remark was observed on bridge. Vessel also had PSC and flag state in Chennai where the vessel was detained and was allowed to sail on Flag state exemption. Then at Colombo vessel again had Flag state and Class inspection. All inventories like stationary, publications, printers, cartridge, printer paper, log books are in 2nd off / Inventory folder. FSO was revised in Mar 2011. So any form having previous date shall be discontinued and latest version of forms to be used.

All navigation related forms are in 2nd off / navigation folder, including passage plan.

No requisition is pending in AMOS other than service request for MF/HF DSC and WX Fax. Vessel was installed Split AC on bridge at Dar Es Salaam as bridge equipments started malfunctioning due to high temp at bridge. Please dont forget to unplug it during cargo operations. Split AC unit breaker sometimes cuts off due to high temp. It can be switched on from switch board in cable room in front of owners cabin on captain deck. DGPS unit was changed in June 2011. The previous unit stops working due to high temp in bridge as mentioned in technician service report. A new unit was installed but antenna was retained as old unit antenna was supporting DGPS where as the new units antenna was not supporting DGPS. Old unit and new antenna are kept in nav locker.

Digital publications are installed on Chartco computer including Total Tide.Messages Messages like Noon report at sea, Noon report in port, Arrival report, Departure report, Port service report are to be prepared by 2OF in 2nd off / reports folder. All bunker figures can be found in C/E folder / Noon bunker consumptions.xls file. A shortcut of this file is also in 2nd off / reports folder.

All old reporting can be found in 2nd off / reports folder, which will give you a fair idea of reporting system, which I found much less complicated than in other companies.

All charters reporting are to be done in consultation with master. Present charter noon report is very simple and can be found in reports folder. Once you have filled all reporting for the day, inform master about it so that he can send it. Noon reports: (Every noon at sea from COSP to EOSP) Shipcare Noon report
