We were hosts for the schools, with Hawkesbury High students leading the groups. Students from Wilberforce, Freemans Reach, Colo Heights and Kurrajong East joined us. We thank Mrs Mackie from Bilpin PS for her organisation, Mrs Bates for organising and cooking the lunch and Mrs Sultana for her assistance. REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY Congratulations to our school leaders who ran our Remembrance Day service last Friday at school. All our students were respectful and beautifully behaved. Congratulations. Our captains laid a wreath at the Freemans Reach Memorial on Saturday. Well done Glossodia. STAGE 1 EXCURSION TO MT TOMAH Last Wednesday, Stage One went on an excursion to the Blue Mountains Botanical Gardens. We had a wonderful day, using our senses to discover the different features and uses of the gardens. We went on a texture hunt and graphed our findings, used a map and key to plot different plants in a 'spotto' game and colour matched built and natural items. It was fantastic to see the students engaging with, and enjoying nature. All students who attended were 'an example to all'. Well done Stage One! Miss Walker- organising teacher. S2 EXCURSION TO PENRITH LAKES On Monday, the Stage 2 students went to Penrith Lakes to tour many of the historic sites in the Castlereagh area. We were told the story of Tessa’s Treasure which showed the impact of European settlement in the area and on Aboriginal culture. Many of the early settlers, including ‘First Fleeters’, were discussed and old farms and buildings identified. The students went on their own treasure hunt to discover how the Aborigines used different plants for food, medicines and other things they needed. We all had a wonderful day and learnt some interesting facts about our local area. Mrs Raymond organising teacher. KEEP THE DATE We are having our annual Carols Under the COLA on Friday 24 November. Families are invited to join us for some Christmas Carol singing and students are able to do some Christmas craft. We even have a special visitor arriving to visit us. Dinner orders have been sent home today for the evening. There will be craft for the students to complete for a cost of a gold coin donation. KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION ASSEMBLY Each year we celebrate the completion of Kindergarten students’ year with a graduation assembly in our last assembly for the year. This year the graduation certificates will be presented and a small item performed on Monday 4 December. KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION EVENING We welcome all our 2018 Kindergarten parents to our Orientation tomorrow evening. The session will begin at 7pm in the Kindergarten classrooms.
