In addition, the Articling Student may conduct and/or assist with legal education programs and law reform activities. An understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, traditions and aspirations is essential. Ability to speak an Aboriginal language, prior involvement with other Aboriginal organizations, and previous experience in a legal setting are desirable. Funding for this position is provided by Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and applicants therefore MUST be ABORIGINAL and Registered with Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training Services of Toronto. ABORIGINAL LEGAL SERVICES OF TORONTO, a non-profit organization providing a range of services to Toronto’s Aboriginal community, requires an ARTICLING STUDENT for 10 months.
