three different cities, three different countries, three different schools of architecture three different stories of visions, worries and fun three different student organizations, all came together under the form of BAP
BAP is a platform based on a common urge to create a student-to-student network beyond the traditional inter-universities scheme. In a WWW world, we introduce a different communication platform, founded on a brotherhood of three organizations, that came together after being lost in the megacity of Paris.
We seek to explore more this bind, to read between the built and focus on the student experience. Three countries, three organizations and hundreds of students can share their resources-works-views not only through internet but also face-to-face [cheek to cheek] by multiple workshops, symposiums, excursions and parties.Over the cities, the countries and the networks, BAP aims to be used and ruled by students as a common place, a link in their [live] explorers.

what ... workshop...?YEAH! the weather gets better, some sun has appeared. Time has come to do things together!Lets have fun and learn from each other through a student to student workshop!
cartography?we wanted to read the city between its lines, to explore places that we’ve never seen, rethink urbanism, society, city layers and multiple realities. All this is a way to MAP our experience, a journey in space, time and technology.
how...?First we organize a walk through paris Then we put down what we saw in two groups:
old school revisited will review the classic techniques of mapping, using collage, photos, installation, and other real life materials to express their thoughts.
cyber punks will explore the post modern mapping realities. Video-photos and texts will be pinned up on an interactive online map.
for the extraordinary people we will form a documentation group that will produce a newspaper and a youtube show covering the event, with interviews gossip and more!

BEING HERE. MAPPING THE CONTEMPORARY
extracts from - Pavilion. Contemporary art and culture magazine #12. Being Here. Mapping the contemporary. Reader for the Bu-charest Biennale 3. Vol. 2
Never perfect, never complete or altogether compre-hensive, never final, but always tentative, wanting, deficient, incomplete, unnerving – representation is failure, representation is loss - and yet capable, versatile, illuminating, productive, and life-saving. The map (let’s say, in order to have some kind of definition, that maps are graphic representations which facilitate a spatial understanding of objects, concepts, conditions, processes or events in the human world) consistently and insistently makes us aware of that unrepresentable and unreachable whole. Each and every map is pursuing its particular job, its specific incremental addition to the world, its reading of specific elements, components, details, of the world, its undoing of those same elements, specificities, particulars; while, simultaneously, pointing – insidiously and exuberantly – to that al-ways over-determined totality of all measures and things, that which we like to call reality.
Jan-Erik Lundström & Johan Sjöström - fragment from Introduction to “Being here. Mapping the Con-temporary” - BB3 2008
