Alternative Music Videos:

‘Waste a Moment’ by Kings of Leon, ‘Radioactive’ by Imagine Dragons and ‘If I Lose Myself’ by OneRepublic.

All three music videos focus mainly on the narrative, with several shots of the storyline and characters dominating the majority of the music videos with the artist never making an appearance. If the artist does appear their shots are kept to the very minimum.

Often, when the artist is depicted, they are either performing live or singing into microphones with their instruments.

These storylines all tend to follow a rather uplifting or important moral. ‘Radioactive’ tells of the moral of never underestimating those who seem smaller or ‘less capable’, whilst ‘If I Lose Myself’ depicts people having fun, letting go and just making the most of their lives. Similarly, ‘Waste a Moment’ reveals a protagonist who appears to be judged and belittled, yet later develops exquisite powers and proves his worth.

Taking on this fact, we have decided to focus entirely on the narrative of the music video, with no mining or playing of instruments. We also hope to create a story which is inspiring, emotional and deep and creates a character who many people can relate to and identify themselves in.
