A Griz-Cat coincidenceGeorge C. Weatherston ’56 was watching the game from the Fargo, N.D., satellite party when a woman approached and commented on his classic Grizzly colors. George noticed her nametag, which said Payne, and mentioned that his UM advisor was Dr. Thomas Payne of the political science department. “His son is sitting behind you,” she replied. “His name is Joe and he’s my husband.” George writes, “I immediately got up and introduced myself to Joe. ‘How old were you in 1956?’ I asked. ‘About two,’ he replied, and we laughed. In the background, the Griz scored another touchdown!” George is lifetime member of UMAA.
