CLARETIAN ALUMNI
ASSOCIATION
The Alumni Association Appeal this year will provide
needed automatic doors to accommodate the retired
priests and brothers using walkers and canes.
Doors in Dominguez Seminary building are solid
wood, meant to last forever. The building is nearing
100 years. But these doors are exceptionally heavy,
and not conducive to the seminary’s current role as
retirement community.
The Association plans to raise $15,000 from its
members which in turn will inspire other friends of
the Claretians to triple our gifts. Recent projects
completed by the Alumni include air‐conditioning
for the dining and community rooms, repurposing
of the pool area into the Upper Garden, and
construction of a gazebo near the seminary building.
Your help is needed.

Gifts are tax‐deductible. For info, call 213.999.6380
Wishing all a blessed Christmas.

Alumni Council Meets withProvincial
Tribute to Fr. Richard DeTore, C.M.F.
The Alumni Association Council met with Provincial Superior Fr. Rosendo Urrabazo, CMF in November to outline its support for the Dominguez Seminary Centenary. The Visitor General from Rome last Spring asked the Community to work with the Alumni in celebrating the Dominguez Centenary in 2024. The Visitor asked that a vision be developed for the seminary building and grounds in its next century. While the retirement community will remain its primary purpose, the property could be expanded for visiting Claretians studying at local universities or even for young men preparing for religious life. Fr. Rosendo said planning should consider other educational ventures to prepare lay people for greater roles in the church, giving them theological training. The Council expressed enthusiasm to the Provincial for an alumni‐run campaign that might support a new, expanded vision for the seminary.
