Alumni ACTIVITIES SPRING 2014 A QUARTERLY UPDATE FOR DUES-PAYING MEMBERS OF THE UM ALUMNI ASSOCIATION This year at Commencement, the University of Montana Alumni Association will host a three-day series of events to celebrate all UM alumni. Come back to Missoula and take a stroll down memory lane with an afternoon social, bus and walking tours, evening reunions, and a very special Commencement Ceremony and alumni luncheon! UM President Royce Engstrom will visit with alumni throughout the weekend, and those of you with loved ones graduating in 2014 will have the distinct pleasure of standing alongside them at Commencement. Alumni celebrating their 50 th (Class of 1964) or 50-plus (all years prior to 1964) class anniversaries will be inducted into the Montana Treasures with a celebratory dinner and a delightful evening of entertainment and conversation. To ensure an accurate count for meals and timely preparation of event materials, all attendees must complete the registration form at www.grizalum.com by April 25. For event details and information about costs and logistics, visit our website. Note that included in the registration fee are several free events. Alumni Directoryin 2010, UMAA partnered with Harris connect to update contact information for UM alumni around the world and to produce an Alumni Directory that helps Grizzlies in their personal and professional networking. in the last four years, many of you have moved, received promotions or changed careers, and many more have graduated and joined the proud ranks of UM alums. this september, a new Alumni Directory will be available for purchase in softcover, hard cover, or cD format. this publication will feature full color pictures, prominent UM personas, and the contact information of all alums who wish to be included.

in March through June, alumni are being contacted by phone, email and mail to verify and update their contact and career information. UMAA values your privacy and treats your information in a secure manner. When you speak with a representative, you can make clear your decision about whether to be included in the project. This year’s Community Lecture Series, “Western Rivers: Connecting Landscapes and Livelihoods,” featured engaging lectures on water from the perspectives of a creative writer, environmental historian, lawyer, hydrogeologist, aquatic vertebrate ecologist and geoscientist. Missoula Community Access Television (MCAT) broadcasts video recordings of the series on Channel 7 every Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. and again Saturday at 7:30 p.m. through May 10. If you miss these broadcasts, the videos later will be available on www.grizalum.com.

In its second year, the Student Alumni Association at UM has more than doubled its membership, thanks to the hard work and enthusiastic support of its student board. SAA president Meghan Keeley, Class of 2015, attended the UMAA Board of Directors annual meeting at Homecoming and wrote to her fellow students: “I am so fortunate to have spent the last few days getting to know the members of the UM Alumni Association Board of Directors. What an amazing group of individuals with such passion for our school… These people want to help us as students.”
