his first novel GIRL was rejected 40 times and then….in the early 90s Sassy Magazine began publishing excerpts, this gener-ated a lot of buzz and led to the publication of GIRL in 1994

So far 2 movies have been made based on his books: GIRL & PARANOID PARK

currently lives in Portland, OR but he has lived in NYC
