Night of 1st Shawwal – Night of Eid ul-Fitr

The first night of Shaww¡l is one of the blessed nights. Many

narrations have referred to the great merits and rewards of those who

spend this night, as a whole, with acts of worship. Moreover, some

narrations have mentioned that this night is not less blessed than the

Qadr Night. The devotional acts at this night are as follows:

Take a ghusl at sunset.

It is recommended to spend the whole night with offering prayers,

supplicating, imploring for forgiveness, and staying at mosques.

It is recommended to say the following invocation after the

obligatory Maghrib Prayer, `Ish¡' Prayer, Fajr Prayer, and the `«d al-Fi§r

Prayer:

كبرالله ا

Allah is Great.

كبرٱلله ا

Allah is Great.

إله إال الله ال

There is no god save Allah.

ركبوٱلله ا

And Allah is Great.

كبرا الله


Allah is Great.

ولله ٱلحمد

All praise be to Allah.

الحمد لله على ما هدانا

All praise be to Allah for He has shown us the Right Path.

والناكر على ما اوله ٱلش

All thanks be to Him for that which He has conferred upon us.


Dua After Maghrib Prayers on Eid Night

After accomplishing the Maghrib obligatory and supererogatory

prayers, it is recommended to raise the hands towards the sky and say

the following:

وللطٱو لمنٱ ذا يا

O Lord of favor and bounty!

لجودٱ ذا يا

O Lord of magnanimity!

وناصره دمحم مصطفي يا

O He Who has chosen Mu¦ammad and granted him victory!

دمحم وآل دعلى محم صل

(Please) send blessings to Mu¦ammad and the Household of

Mu¦ammad

حصيتها ذنب كل لي غفرٱو

and forgive me all the sins that You have known (from me)

مبين كتاب في عندك وهو

and they are written with you in a manifest record.

Then, it is recommended to prostrate oneself and repeat the following

statement 100 times:


توب إلى ٱللهأ

I turn repentant unto Allah.

Then, one may pray Almighty Allah for all needs required, for they

shall be granted, by Almighty Allah’s permission.


Dua in Prostration after Isha Prayers

According to the narration mentioned by Shaykh al-±£s¢, it is

recommended to prostrate after the Maghrib and `Ish¡' Prayers and then

say the following supplicatory prayer:

يا ذا ٱلحولO Lord of power!

وليا ذا ٱلط

O Lord of bounty!

دا وناصرهمصطفيا محم يا

O He Who has chosen Mu¦ammad and granted him victory,

دعلى محمد وآل محم صل

(please do) bless Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad

ذنبتهذنب ا وٱغفر لي كل

and forgive me every sin that I have committed

نا وهو عندك في كتاب مبينونسيته ا

and forgotten, but it is recorded with You in a Manifest Record.

Then, one may repeat the following 100 times:




Ziyarah of Imam Hussain on the Night of Eid

When you intend to visit Imam al-°usayn’s tomb at these two nights,

you may stop at the gate of the holy dome, cast your sight on the tomb,

and seek permission of admission by saying:

Go straight to ziyarah

للهٱبا عبد موالي يا ايا O my master! O Ab£-`Abdull¡h!

للهٱيا بن رسول O son of Allah’s Messenger!

متكبن اٱبن عبدك وٱعبدك وI—your slave and son of your slave and your bondwoman,

يل بين يديكلذلٱwho stand submissively before you,

لمصغر في علو قدركٱوwho is worth nothing in comparison with your elevated esteem,

لمعترف بحقكٱوand who admits your right (that is incumbent upon us)—


بك جاءك مستجيراhave come to you, seeking your shelter,

إلى حرمك قاصداheading for your sanctuary,

متوجها إلى مقامكturning my face towards Your place,

ى بكلله تعالٱإلى متوسالand beseeching Allah in your name.

دخل يا مواليااMay I enter, O my master?

للهٱدخل يا ولي ااMay I enter, O intimate servant of Allah?

للهٱدخل يا مالئكة ااMay I enter, O Allah’s angels

لحرمٱلمحدقين بهذا ٱwho surround this sanctuary

لمشهدٱلمقيمين في هذا ٱand reside in this shrine?


If your heart feels reverence and your eyes shed tears, then you may

enter by preceding your right foot to your left one. You may then say

the following words:

للهٱلله وبٱ بسمIn the Name of Allah (I begin), in Allah (I trust),

للهٱيل ي سبوفon the way of Allah (I proceed),

للهٱى ملة رسول وعلand the norm of the Messenger of Allah (I follow).

مباركا نزلني منزالاللهم اO Allah, (please do) enable me to reside blessedly

لمنزلينٱنت خير وا

and You are the best of those who enable to reside.

You may then say the following words:

كبر كبيراالله اAllah is greatly the Most Great.

لحمد لله كثيراٱوAll praise be to Allah abundantly.


صيالالله بكرة وٱوسبحان Glory be to Allah in morns and eves.

لصمدٱلفرد ٱلحمد لله ٱوAll praise be to Allah the Single, the Absolute,

حدالٱلماجد ٱthe Glorious, the One and Only,

انلمنٱلمتفضل ٱthe All-obliging, the All-benefactor,

انلحنٱلمتطول ٱthe Donor, the All-compassionate

لهطوت نلذي مٱWho, out of His conferral (upon us) with His bequests,

بإحسانهموالي زيارة لي سهل has made easy for me to visit my master out of His beneficence,

ي عن زيارته ممنوعايجعلن ولمWho has not included me with those who are prevented from

visiting him

وال عن ذمته مدفوعا


or those who are rejected from being under his inviolability;

بل تطول ومنحrather, He has bestowed upon me and donated me (this favor).

You may then enter the shrine. When you reach its center, you may

stop near the tomb with reverence, weeping, and submission, and say


للهٱالسالم عليك يا وارث آدم صفوة Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Adam the choice of Allah.

للهٱين مالسالم عليك يا وارث نوح ا Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Noah the trustee of Allah.

للهٱالسالم عليك يا وارث إبراهيم خليل Peace be upon you O inheritor of Abraham the Friend of Allah.

للهٱالسالم عليك يا وارث موسى كليم Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Moses the spoken by Allah.

للهٱالسالم عليك يا وارث عيسى روح Peace be upon you, O inheritor of Jesus the spirit of Allah.

السالم عليك يا وارث محمدPeace be upon you, O inheritor of Mu¦ammad,

للهٱلله عليه وآله حبيب ٱصلى


blessings of Allah be upon him and his Household, the most -

beloved of Allah.

للهٱحجة ث عليالسالم عليك يا وار Peace be upon you, O inheritor of `Al¢ the Argument of Allah.

لتقيٱلبر ٱلوصي ٱيها السالم عليك ا Peace be upon you, O obedient and pious successor.

لموتورٱلوتر ٱو بن ثارهٱلله وٱالسالم عليك يا ثار Peace be upon you, O vengeance of Allah, son of His vengeance,

and the unavenged so far.

لصالةٱقمت نك قد اشهد اا I bear witness that you performed the prayers,

لزكاةٱوآتيت defrayed the poor-rate,

لمعروفٱمرت بوا enjoined the right,

لمنكرٱونهيت عن forbade the evil,

لله حق جهادهٱوجاهدت في and strove for the sake of Allah as exactly as strife must be


ستبيح حرمك وقتلت مظلوماٱحتى until your inviolability was violated and you were slain wrongfully.

You may then stop at the side of the Imam’s head with submissive heart

and teary eyes and say the following words:

للهٱبا عبد السالم عليك يا ا Peace be upon you, O Ab£-`Abdull¡h.

للهٱالسالم عليك يا بن رسول Peace be upon you, O son of Allah’s Messenger.

ينلوصيٱالسالم عليك يا بن سيد Peace be upon you, O son of the chief of the prophets’ successors.

لزهراءٱالسالم عليك يا بن فاطمة Peace be upon you, O son of F¡§imah the luminous lady

لعالمينٱسيدة نساء and the doyenne of the women of the worlds.

ينلمسلمٱالسالم عليك يا بطل Peace be upon you, O hero of Muslims.

يا مواليO my master,


امخةلشٱصالب الٱفي نك كنت نوراشهد اا I bear witness that You were light in the lofty loins

لمطهرةٱرحام الٱو and purified wombs.

نجاسهالجاهلية باٱلم تنجسك The ignorance could not stain you with its impurities

ولم تلبسك من مدلهمات ثيابهاor dress you its gloomy garbs.

لدينٱنك من دعائم شهد اوا I also bear witness that you are one of the pillars of the religion,

ينلمسلمٱركان وا the supports of Muslims,

لمؤمنينٱمعقل و and the havens of the faithful believers.

لرضيٱلتقي ٱلبر ٱإلمام ٱنك شهد اوا I also bear witness that you are the God-fearing, pious, pleased,

لمهديٱي لهادٱلزكي ٱ pure, guide, and well-guided Imam.


ئمة من ولدكالٱن شهد اوا I also bear witness that the Imams from your progeny

لهدىٱعالم ى والتقوٱكلمة are the spokesmen of piety, the signs of guidance,

ىلوثقٱلعروة ٱو the firmest handle (of Islam),

لدنياٱهل لحجة على اٱو and the arguments against the inhabitants of this world.

You may then throw yourself on the tomb and say the following

words:

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعونTo Allah we belong and to Him is our return.

لوليكم نا موالموالي ايا O my master, I am loyal to your loyalists

لعدوكم ومعاد and enemy of your enemies.

نا بكم مؤمن وبإيابكموا


I also believe in you all and in your Return

يينموقن بشرايع د and I have full confidence in the laws of my religion

يوخواتيم عمل and in the seals of my deeds.

ي لقلبكم سلموقلب My heart is at peace with your heart

مركم متبعال يمروا and all my affairs are following your commands.

يمنآف تيتك خائفايا موالي ا O my master, I have come to you fearful; so, (please) secure me.

يجرنفا يراتيتك مستجوا I have come to you seeking shelter; so, (please) grant me shelter.

يغننفا يراتيتك فقوا I have come to you deprived; so, (please) grant me wealth.

سيدي ومواليMy chief and master,

ينجمعلخلق اٱلله على ٱنت موالي حجة ا


you are, O my master, Allah’s argument against all of His

creatures.

آمنت بسركم وعالنيتكمI believe in your secret and open affairs,

وبظاهركم وباطنكمin your visible and invisible affairs,

ولكم وآخركموا and in the foremost and the last of you.

للهٱمين وا للهٱي لكتاب لتالٱنك شهد اوا I also bear witness that you have recited the Book of Allah and you

are the Trustee of Allah,

لحسنةٱلموعظة ٱلحكمة وٱلله بٱي إلى اعلدٱ who calls to Allah with wisdom and excellent exhortation.

مة ظلمتكالله ٱلعن May Allah curse the people who wronged you.

لك فرضيت بهمة سمعت بذالله ٱولعن May Allah curse the people who were pleased when they heard of

that.


You may then offer a two-unit prayer to the side of the Imam’s head

and when you finish, you may say the following words:

اللهم إني لك صليتO Allah, I have offered a prayer for You

ولك ركعت ولك سجدتand I have genuflected and prostrated myself for You

يك لكوحدك ال شر alone without setting any partner to You,

لصالةٱنه ال تجوز إف because prayers,

إال لك لسجودٱلركوع وٱو genuflections, and prostrations are illegal for anyone save You,

نتال اإلله ال إله ٱنت نك اال because You are Allah; there is no god save You.

هم صل على محمد وآل محمدالل O Allah, (please) send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the

Household of Mu¦ammad,

لتحيةٱلسالم وٱفضل ي ابلغهم عنوا


convey to them the most favorite salutations and greetings from

me,

لسالمٱردد علي منهم ٱو and convey to me their response to my greeting.

لركعتان هدية منيٱاللهم وهاتان O Allah, these two units of prayer are a present from me

لحسين بن عليٱإلى سيدي to my master al-°usayn the son of `Al¢,

لسالمٱعليهما peace be upon both of them.

اللهم صل على محمد وعليهO Allah, send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and upon him,

ي عليهمانزجٱوتقبلهما مني و accept these two units of prayer from me, and reward me for them

ي فيك وفي وليكملي ورجائفضل اا by granting me the best of my hope and expectation in you and in

Your Friend,

لمؤمنينٱيا ولي O Guardian of the believers!


You may then throw yourself on the tomb, kiss it, and say the

following words:

لحسين بن عليٱالسالم على Peace be upon al-°usayn the son of `Al¢,

لشهيدٱلمظلوم ٱ the wronged and martyred,

لعبراتٱقتيل the victim of shed tears,

لكرباتٱسير وا and the captive of agonies.

بن وليكٱنه وليك وشهد االلهم إني ا O Allah, I do bear witness that he is Your intimate friend and the

son of Your intimate friend

لثائر بحقكٱوصفيك and Your choicest one who revolted to demand with Your right.

كرمته بكرامتكا You have thus honored him with Your honor,

لشهادةٱوختمت له ب


sealed his lifetime with martyrdom,

لسادةٱمن وجعلته سيدا made him one of the chiefs

لقادةٱمن وقائدا and one of the leaders,

لوالدةٱيب كرمته بطوا honored him with immaculate birth,

نبياءالٱعطيته مواريث وا gave him the inheritances of the prophets,

وصياءالٱوجعلته حجة على خلقك من and made him argument against Your creatures and one of the

Successors.

لدعاءٱعذر في فا So, he called to You flawlessly,

يحةلنصٱومنح gave advice,

وبذل مهجته فيكand sacrificed himself for Your sake


لضاللةٱلجهالة وحيرة ٱستنقذ عبادك من ٱحتى until he could save Your servants from ignorance and perplexity of

straying off.

لدنياٱوقد توازر عليه من غرته Yet, those whom were seduced by this worldly life,

ىدنالٱآلخرة بٱوباع حظه من those who sold their share of the Hereafter with the lowly price,

ى في هواهوترد those who perished because of following their desires,

سخط نبيكسخطك واوا those who brought to themselves Your wrath and the wrath of Your

Prophet,

لنفاقٱلشقاق وٱي ولاطاع من عبادك وا and those who obeyed the dissident and hypocritical servants of

You

ارلنٱين لمستوجبٱوزار الٱوحملة and the bearers of the burdens (of sins) who deserve Hellfire—all

those supported each other against him;

محتسبا فجاهدهم فيك صابرا


so, he fought against them with steadfastness and expectation of

Your reward,

مقبال غير مدبرfacing them courageously, never turning back,

ومة الئملله لٱخذه في اال ت and never fearing the blame of anyone concerning carrying out his

duty towards You

حتى سفك في طاعتك دمهuntil his blood was shed while he was in obedience to You

مهـيستبيح حرٱو and his inviolability was also infringed.

يالوب لعنهم لعناٱاللهم O Allah, curse them with incessant curses

يمالوعذبهم عذابا ا and chastise them with painful chastisement.

Ziyarah of Ali ibn Hussain

You may then turn to `Al¢ ibn al-°usayn (`a), who is buried to the

side of Imam al-°usayn’s feet, and say the following words:

للهٱالسالم عليك يا ولي


Peace be upon you, O Allah’s intimate servant.

للهٱالسالم عليك يا بن رسول Peace be upon you, O son of Allah’s Messenger.

ينلنبيٱعليك يا بن خاتم السالمPeace be upon you, O son of the seal of the prophets.

السالم عليك يا بن فاطمةPeace be upon you, O son of F¡§imah

لعالمينٱسيدة نساء the doyenne of the women of the worlds.

لمؤمنينٱمير عليك يا بن االسالم Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful.

لشهيدٱلمظلوم ٱيها السالم عليك اPeace be upon you, O persecuted and martyred.

يمانت وي ابباMay Allah accept my father and my mother as ransoms for you.

عشت سعيداYou lived happily

وقتلت مظلوما شهيدا


and were killed as wronged and martyred.

Ziyarah of the Martrys of Karbala

You may then turn to the tombs of the martyrs—may Allah’s

pleasure be upon them—and say the following words:

للهٱيد لذابون عن توحٱيها السالم عليكم اPeace be upon you all, O defenders of (the faith of) Allah’s

Oneness.

السالم عليكم بما صبرتمPeace be upon you because you were constant.

لدارٱبى فنعم عقHow excellent then the issue of the abode is.

يمانتم وبي اباMay Allah accept my father and my mother as ransoms for you.

عظيما فزتم فوزا

You achieved a great success.

Ziyarah of Abbas ibn Ali

You may then walk to the shrine of al-`Abb¡s ibn `Al¢, stop at his

holy tomb, and say the following words:

يلمواسٱلصديق ٱالح ولصٱلعبد ٱيها السالم عليك ا


Peace be upon you, O righteous servant (of Allah) and veracious

self-sacrificing.

للهٱآمنت ب نكشهد ااI bear witness that you believed in Allah,

للهٱبن رسول ٱونصرت supported the son of Allah’s Messenger,

للهٱودعوت إلى سبيل called to the way of Allah,

وواسيت بنفسكand sacrificed yourself for Him.

لسالمٱلتحية وٱفضل لله اٱفعليك من So, the most favorite greetings and compliments of Allah be upon

you.

You may now throw yourself on the tomb and say the following

words:

للهٱين ي يا ناصر دمانت وي ابباMay Allah accept my father and mother as ransoms for you, O

supporter of Allah’s religion.

لصديقٱلحسين ٱالسالم عليك يا ناصر Peace be upon you, O supporter of al-°usayn the veracious.


لشهيدٱلحسين ٱالسالم عليك يا ناصر Peace be upon you, O supporter of al-°usayn the martyr.

لسالمٱي عليك منPeace from me be upon you

لنهارٱلليل وٱيت وبقي ما بق

as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.

You may then stand up to offer a two-unit prayer to the side of his

head and then repeat the same words that you have said after offering a

prayer at Imam al-°usayn’s shrine.

You may then return to the shrine of Imam al-°usayn (`a) to reside

there for any period you like. However, it is recommended not to

appoint the holy shrine as one’s place of residence and spending the

night there.

Ziyarah of Farewell on the Nights of Eid

If you intend to leave and bid farewell to the Imam (`a), you may

stop at the side of the head and say the following words while weeping:

السالم عليك يا مواليPeace be upon you, O my master.

وال سئم ال قال سالم مودعThis is the greeting of one who has to bid you farewell although he

is neither bored with you nor tired of you.


نصرف فال عن ماللةن اإفIf I leave (you), this is not because of weariness,

قم فال عن سوء ظناوإن and if I reside, this is not because of mistrusting

ينابرلصٱلله ٱبما وعد the promise that Allah has made for the serene ones.

ي لزيارتكلعهد منٱلله آخر ٱيا موالي ال جعله O my master, may Allah not decide this time of my visit to you to

be the last

لعود إليكٱورزقني and may He endue me with more chances to re-visit you,

في حرمك لمقامٱوto reside in your sanctuary,

لكون في مشهدكٱوand to be in your presence.

لعالمينٱين رب آمRespond to me, O Lord of the worlds!

You may then kiss the tomb and try to pass your entire body over it,


because this tomb is security and protection. You may then leave it by

walking backwards without giving your back to the tomb. You may say


لمقامٱالسالم عليك يا باب Peace be upon you, O door to the High Position.

نآلقرٱيك السالم عليك يا شرPeace be upon you, O partner of the Qur'¡n.

لخصامٱالسالم عليك يا حجة Peace be upon you, O argument against disputants.

لنجاةٱينة السالم عليك يا سفPeace be upon you, O ark of salvation.

عليكم يا مالئكة ربيالسالم Peace be upon you all, O angels of my Lord

لحرمٱين في هذا يملمقٱwho are residing in this sanctuary.

بداالسالم عليك اPeace be upon you forever

لنهارٱلليل وٱيت وبقي ما بق


as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.

You may also say the following words:

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعونTo Allah we belong and to Him is our return.

يملعظٱلعلي ٱلله ٱوال حول وال قوة إال ب

There is neither might nor power except with Allah the All-high and

All-great.

You may then leave.

Sayyid Ibn ±¡w£s and Mu¦ammad ibn al-Mashhad¢ said, “If you do

all these devotional acts (correctly), you will be as if you have visited

Almighty Allah in His Divine Throne.”


3 Salaahs for Night of Eid

1st Salaah for Eid Night

It is recommended to offer a prayer of 14 units and to recite S£rah al-

F¡ti¦ah once, ªyah al-Kurs¢ once, and S£rah al-Taw¦¢d 3 times at each

unit. The reward of offering each unit of this prayer is as same as the

reward of forty-year worship as well as the reward of each and every

one who has observed fasting and offered prayers in this month.

2nd

Salaah for Eid night

One may offer a prayer consisting of 10 Rak`ahs (5x2) at each of which

S£rah of al-F¡ti¦ah is recited once and S£rah of al-Taw¦¢d is repeated

10 times. In the Ruk£` (genuflection of the prayer) and Suj£d

(prostration of the prayer), the following invocation (namely al-Tasb¢¦¡t

al-Arba`ah) may be repeated 10 times:

سبحان الله،All glory be to Allah;

والحمد لله،all praise be to Allah;

الله، وال إله إالthere is no god save Allah;


.والله أكبرAllah is the Greatest.

After the accomplishment of the ten Rak`ahs, one may recite the Tasl¢m

and say the following supplication of seeking forgiveness 1000 times:

.أستغفر الله وأتوب إليه

I seek the forgiveness of Allah and I repent before Him.

After that, go into prostratration and say the following:

يا حي يا قيوم،O Ever-Alive, O Eternal,

يا ذا الجالل واإلكرام،O the Lord of Majesty and Honor.

يارحمان الدنيا واآلخرة ورحيمهما،O the All-beneficent of this world and the Next World and the All-

merciful of them;

يا أرحم الراحمين،O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

األولين واآلخرين، ياإلهO the God of the past and the coming generations;


اغفر لنا ذنوبنا،(Please) forgive us our sins,

.وقيامنا ل منا صالتنا وصيامناوتقبAnd accept our prayers, fasting, and worship.

3rd

Salaah for Eid Night

It is recommended to offer a 2 unit prayer reciting, in the first unit,

S£rah al-F¡ti¦ah once and repeating S£rah al-Taw¦¢d 1000 times (in

another narration it is mentioned 100 times Sura al-Tawhid) and

reciting, in the second unit, S£rah al-F¡ti¦ah once and S£rah al-Taw¦¢d

once only. After accomplishment, it is recommended to prostrate and

say the following:



After that, the following supplicatory prayer should be said:

لجودٱلمن وٱيا ذا O Lord of favoring and magnanimity!

يا ذا ٱلمن وٱلطولO Lord of favoring and bounty!


عليه وآلهى ٱلله يا مصطفي محمد صلO He Who has selected Mu¦ammad, peace of Allah be upon him

and his Household,

صل على محمد وآله(please do) send blessings to Mu¦ammad and his Household.

Then, one may pray for the granting of one’s personal needs.

It is reported that when Imam `Al¢ Am¢r al-Mu'min¢n (`a) used to

offer this prayer, he would say, “I swear by Him Who grasps my soul,

Almighty Allah shall definitely respond to whoever offers this prayer

and then prays Him for granting his needs, and Almighty Allah shall

forgive him even if his sins would be as much as the pebbles in

deserts.”

According to another narration, S£rah al-Taw¦¢d is repeated one

hundred times, not one thousand. Yet, this narration has mentioned that

this prayer is offered after the Maghrib obligatory and supererogatory

prayers.

Then recite the supplication given below.


Supplication on Eid Night (Supplication with Allahs’s

Names)

After the above mentioned prayer, Shaykh al-±£s¢ and Sayyid Ibn

±¡w£s recorded that the following supplicatory prayer should be said:

يا الله يا الله اللهيا O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!

يا رحمن يا اللهO Beneficent! O Allah!

يا رحيم يا اللهO Merciful! O Allah!

يا مهيمن يا اللهO All-prevailing! O Allah!

يا عزيز يا اللهO Almighty! O Allah!

يا جبار يا اللهO Omnipotent! O Allah!

يا متكبر يا اللهO All-great! O Allah!

يا خالق يا اللهO Creator! O Allah!

يا بارئ يا اللهO Inventor! O Allah!

يا مصور يا اللهO Shaper! O Allah!

يا عالم يا اللهO All-knowing! O Allah!

اللهيا عظيم يا O Great! O Allah!


يا عليم يا اللهO Knowing! O Allah!

يا كريم يا اللهO All-generous! O Allah!

يا حليم يا اللهO Indulgent! O Allah!

يا حكيم يا اللهO Wise! O Allah!

يا سميع يا اللهO Hearer! O Allah!

ا اللهيا بصير ي O Seer! O Allah!

يا قريب يا اللهO Near! O Allah!

يا مجيب يا اللهO Responder! O Allah!

يا جواد يا اللهO All-magnanimous! O Allah!


يا ماجد يا اللهO Glorious! O Allah!

يا ملي يا اللهO Rich and Powerful! O Allah!

يا وفي يا اللهO Sincere! O Allah!

ى يا اللهيا مول O Lord-Master! O Allah!

يا قاضي يا اللهO Judge! O Allah!

يا سريع يا اللهO Swift! O Allah!

يا شديد يا اللهO Firm! O Allah!

يا رؤوف يا اللهO Compassionate! O Allah!

يا رقيب يا اللهO Preserver! O Allah!


يا مجيد يا اللهO Mighty! O Allah!

يا حفيظ يا اللهO Protector! O Allah!

يا محيط يا اللهO Encompasser! O Allah!

يا سيد ٱلسادات يا اللهO Chief of the chiefs! O Allah!

ول يا اللهيا اO Ever-Foremost! O Allah!

خر يا اللهآيا O Eternally Last! O Allah!

يا ظاهر يا اللهO Evident! O Allah!

يا باطن يا اللهO Intrinsic Fundamental! O Allah!

يا فاخر يا اللهO Glorious! O Allah!


يا قاهر يا اللهO Victor! O Allah!

يا رباه يا اللهO Lord-Nourisher! O Allah!



يا ودود يا اللهO Loving! O Allah!

نور يا اللهيا O Light! O Allah!

يا رافع يا اللهO Raiser! O Allah!

يا مانع يا اللهO Preventer! O Allah!

يا دافع يا اللهO Defender! O Allah!


يا فاتح يا اللهO Introducer! O Allah!

يا نفاح يا اللهO Bountiful! O Allah!

يا جليل يا اللهO Magnificent! O Allah!

يا جميل يا اللهO Handsome! O Allah!

يا شهيد يا اللهO Witness! O Allah!

يا شاهد يا اللهO Present! O Allah!

يا مغيث يا اللهO Succorer! O Allah!

يا حبيب يا اللهO Beloved! O Allah!

يا فاطر يا اللهO Creator out of nothing! O Allah!


يا مطهر يا اللهO Purifier! O Allah!

يا ملك يا اللهO Master! O Allah!

يا مقتدر يا اللهO All-powerful! O Allah!

يا قابض يا اللهO Possessor! O Allah!

يا باسط يا اللهO Spreader! O Allah!

يا محيي يا اللهO Vivifier! O Allah!

يا مميت يا اللهO Exterminator! O Allah!

يا باعث يا اللهO Causer! O Allah!

يا وارث يا اللهO Inheritor! O Allah!


يا معطي يا اللهO Bestower! O Allah!

يا مفضل يا اللهO Favorer! O Allah!

يا منعم يا اللهO Benefactor! O Allah!

يا حق يا اللهO Truth! O Allah!

يا مبين يا اللهO Distinct! O Allah!

يا طيب يا اللهO Affable! O Allah!

يا اللهيا محسن O Polite! O Allah!

يا مجمل يا اللهO Graceful! O Allah!

يا مبدئ يا اللهO Originator! O Allah!


يا معيد يا اللهO He Who brings back all things! O Allah!

يا بارئ يا اللهO He Who makes visible! O Allah!

يا الله يا بديع O Inventor! O Allah!

يا هادي يا اللهO Guide! O Allah!

ي يا اللهيا كاف O Able! O Allah!

ي يا اللهيا شاف O Efficacious! O Allah!

يا الله ييا عل O High! O Allah!

يا عظيم يا اللهO Great! O Allah!

يا الله انيا حن O Tender! O Allah!


ان يا اللهيا من O Kind! O Allah!

يا ذا ٱلطول يا اللهO Owner of bounties! O Allah!

ي يا اللهيا متعال O Allah! O Most High! O Allah!

يا عدل يا اللهO Just! O Allah!

ا اللهيا ذا ٱلمعارج ي O Owner of ascendancy! O Allah!

يا صادق يا اللهO Truthful! O Allah!

يا صدوق يا اللهO Sincere! O Allah!

يا ديان يا اللهO Requiter! O Allah!

ي يا اللهيا باق O He Who remains for ever! O Allah!


اللهي يا يا واق O Vigilant! O Allah!

ل يا اللهيا ذا ٱلجال O Owner of majesty! O Allah!

يا ذا ٱإلكرام يا اللهO Owner of glory! O Allah!

يا محمود يا اللهO Admirable! O Allah!

يا معبود يا اللهO Adorable! O Allah!

ا اللهيا صانع ي O Maker! O Allah!

يا معين يا اللهO Helper! O Allah!

يا مكون يا اللهO Doer! O Allah!

يا فعال يا اللهO Active! O Allah!


يا لطيف يا اللهO Subtle! O Allah!

يا غفور يا اللهO Oft-forgiving! O Allah!

كور يا اللهيا ش O Very Thankful! O Allah!

يا نور يا اللهO Splendid! O Allah!

يا قدير يا اللهO Omnipotent! O Allah!

ن تصلي على محمد وآل محمدلك اسااI beseech You to send blessings to Mu¦ammad and the Household

of Mu¦ammad,

وتمن علي برضاكfavor on me with Your pleasure,

ي بحلمكوتعفو عن


grant me amnesty through Your munificence,

ل ٱلطيبوتوسع علي من رزقك ٱلحال and expand Your lawful, good sustenance to me

حتسبا حتسب ومن حيث الومن حيث اfrom whence I expect and from whence I do not,

حد سواكي عبدك ليس لي انإفfor I am Your servant, I have no one else other than You,

له غيركساحد اا والand there is no one to whom I turn to other than You!

احمينرحم ٱلريا اO Most Merciful of the Merciful!

ما شاء ٱللهOnly that which Allah wills takes place.

قوة إال بٱلله ٱلعلي ٱلعظيم ال There is no power except in Allah, the High, the Great.

One may then prostrate oneself and say the following:

يا الله يا الله يا اللهO Allah! O Allah! O Allah!


ربيا رب يا يا رب O Lord-Nourisher! O Lord-Nourisher! O Lord-Nourisher!

يا منزل ٱلبركاتO He Who sends down blessing!

بك تنزل كل حاجةTo You only are all desires turned.

لك بكل ٱسم في مخزون ٱلغيب عندكسااI beseech You in the name of every name treasured in Your

invisible collection,

سماء ٱلمشهورة عندكوٱالand in the name of Your celebrated names,

ٱلمكتوبة على سرادق عرشكinscribed on the hangings of Your Throne,

ن تصلي على محمد وآل محمداto send blessings to Mu¦ammad and the Household of Mu¦ammad,

رمضاني شهر ن تقبل منواto accept my offerings made in the month of Rama¤¡n,

ي من ٱلوافدين إلى بيتك ٱلحراموتكتبن


to record my name in the list of those who will journey to Your

Sacred House,

وتصفح لي عن ٱلذنوب ٱلعظامto overlook my grand sins,

وتستخرج لي يا رب كنوزك يا رحمنto demonstrate, O Lord, before me Your treasures, O All-beneficent

In Mi¥b¡¦ al-Mutahajjid, Shaykh al-±£s¢ says: At the last hour of this

night, you may take a ghusl and sit in your prayer-place until dawn.


Another Supplication for Eid Night

It is recommended to repeat the following supplicatory prayer 10

times:

لبريةٱى لفضل علٱيا دائم O He Who is ever-Favorer on the beings!

لعطيةٱليدين بٱيا باسط O He Who is openhandedly Bestower of gifts!

لسنيةٱلمواهب ٱيا صاحب O He Who is the Giver of sublime donations!

وآله ى محمدصل علBless Mu¦ammad and his Household,

ى سجيةلورٱخير the best of all creatures in traits,

ىلعلٱ ٱغفر لنا يا ذٱوand forgive us, O Lord of Highness,

لعشيةٱهذه يفat this evening.


Eid Day – 1st Shawwal

It is recommended to say the supplicatory prayer that has been

mentioned within the acts of the `«d al-Fi§r Night to be said after the

obligatory prayers and that begins with (all¡hu akbar all¡hu akbar)

after the Fajr Prayer and after the `«d al-Fi§r Prayer.

It is recommended to put on the best clothes, apply perfumes.

It is recommended to eat something, as a breaking of the fast, before

the `«d al-Fi§r Prayer. It is preferable to break the fast with some dates

or a piece of candy. Shaykh al-Muf¢d has mentioned that it is advisable

to swallow a piece of the soil of Imam al-°usayn’s tomb, for it is

remedy for all illnesses.

It is recommended to visit the holy tomb of Imam al-°usayn (`a).

It is highly recommended to recite the famous supplication of Dua

Nudba.


Supplication before and after Ghusl on Eid Day

It is recommended to bathe oneself/take a Ghusl on this day. Before

ghusl you may say the following:

مانا بكـللهم إياO Allah, believing in You,

بكتابكوتصديقا fully aware of Your Book,

دك محمة نبيباع سنوٱتand following the traditions of Your Prophet Mu¦ammad,

صلى ٱلله عليه وآلهAllah’s blessings be upon him and his Household, (I take bath).

You may then mention the Name of Almighty Allah(1)

and bathe

yourself/take your Ghusl.

After accomplishment of ghusl, you may say the following:

اللهم ٱجعله كفارة لذنوبيO Allah, (please) consider this to wipe out my sins

(1) To mention the Name of Almighty Allah is to say, “Bismill¡hirra¦m¡nirra¦¢m (In the Name of Allah; the

All-beneficent, the All-merciful.)”


ر دينيوطهand purify my faith.

نسٱلد يذهب عنلهم اال

O Allah, (please) remove filth from me


Supplication to be recited before Eid Salaah

It is recommended not to leave one’s house for joining the

congregational `«d al-Fi§r Prayer before sunrise. It is also recommended

to say the supplicatory prayers that have been mentioned by Sayyid Ibn

±¡w£s in Iqb¡l al-A`m¡l. Among these supplicatory prayers is the one

that Ab£-°amzah al-Thum¡l¢ has reported Imam Mu¦ammad al-B¡qir

(`a) as saying: Whey you ready yourself for joining the congregational

Friday Prayers and the `«d Prayers, you may say the following

supplicatory prayer:

في هذا ٱليوم االلهم من تهي

O Allah, if one, on this day, prepares oneself,

وٱستعد عدو اا او تعبا

takes pains, gets ready, or prepares oneself

لوفادة إلى مخلوقto visit another one,

رجاء رفده ونوافله

hoping for his aid, gifts,

وفواضله وعطاياه

benefits, and grants;


دي تهيئتي وتعبئتيإليك ياسي فإن

for You alone, my Lord, is my readiness, preparations,

وإعدادي وٱستعدادي

taking pains, training, and inclination

وجوائزك رجاء رفدك

in the hope of gaining Your aid, gifts,

ونوافلك وفواضلك

grants, benefits,

وفضائلك وعطاياك

bounties, and donations.

وقد غدوت إلى عيد من ا دك محمة نبيماعياد

I find myself celebrating one of the feasts commemorated by the

nation of Your Prophet, Mu¦ammad,

صلوات ٱلله عليه وعلى آله

blessings of Allah be upon him and his Household.

متهثق به قدفد إليك ٱليوم بعمل صالح اولم ا

I have not come to You, today, carrying a righteous deeds that I

may trust to present before You

لتهمهت بمخلوق اوال توج


nor have I introduced a creature as my interceder before You;

تيتك خاضعاولكن ا

rather, I submissively draw near You

بذنوبي وإساءتي إلى نفسيمقرا

confessing of my wrongdoings and my offenses to myself.

فيا عظيم يا عظيم يا عظيمSo, O All-great, O All-great, O All-great,

ذنوبي ٱغفر لي ٱلعظيم من

(please) forgive my grave wrongdoings,

نتنوب ٱلعظام إال ايغفر ٱلذ ه النفإ

for, verily, no one can forgive serious transgressions save You.

نتإله إال ا يا ال

O He save Whom there is no god!

رحم ٱلراحمينيا ا

O most Merciful of all the merciful!


Supplication 46 from Sahifa Sajjadiya – Supplication to

be recited on the Day of Eid ul-Fitr

Narrations have mentioned many supplicatory prayers to be said after

the `«d Prayer; rather, the best of them may be the forty-sixth

supplication of al-¯a¦¢fah al-K¡milah al-Sajj¡diyyah, which begins

with the following statement:

O He who has mercy upon him toward whom the servants show no

mercy!

.يا من يرحم من ال يرحمه العباد

O He who accepts him whom the cities will not accept!

بالدويا من .يقبل من ال تقبله ال

O He who looks not down upon those who have need of Him!

.ويا من ال يحتقر أهل الحاجة إليه

O He who disappoints not those who implore Him!

ويا من ال يخيب الملحين عليـه،

O He who slaps not the brow of the people of boldness toward Him

with rejection!

ويا من ال يجبه بالرد أهل الدالة عليه،

O He who collects the little that is given to Him

ويا من يجتبي صغير مايتحف به،


and shows gratitude for the paltry that is done for Him!

.ويشكر يسير ما يعمل له

O He who shows gratitude for the small and rewards with the great!

ويامن يشكر على القليل، ويجازي بالجليل،

O He who comes close to him who comes close to Him!

ا من يدنو إلى من دنا منهوي

O He who invites to Himself him who turns his back on Him!

ويا من يدعو إلى نفسه من أدبر عنه،

O He who changes not favour and rushes not to vengeance!

ر بالنقمة،ويا من ال يغير النعمة، وال يباد

O He who causes the good deed to bear fruit so that He may make

it grow,

ويا من يثمر الحسنة حتى ينميها،

and overlooks the evil deed so that He may efface it!

.ويتجاوز عن السيئة حتى يعفيها

Hopes turn back with needs fulfilled short of the extent of Thy

generosity,

انصرفت اآلمال دون مدى كرمك بالحاجات

the cups of requests fill up with the overflow of Thy munificence,


وامتالت بفيض جودك أوعية الطلبات،

and attributes fall apart without reaching Thy description.

وتفسخت دون بلوغ نعتـك الصفات،

For to Thee belongs the highest highness above everything high,

فلك العلو األعلى فوق كل عال،

and the most glorious majesty beyond every majesty!

والجالل األمجد فوق كل جالل،

Everything majestic before Thee is small,

كل جليل عندك صغير،

everything eminent beside Thy eminence vile!

وكل شريف في جنب شرفك حقير،

Those who reach other than Thee are disappointed,

خاب الوافدون على غيرك،

those who present themselves to other than Thee have lost, those

who stay with other than Thee have perished,

وخسر المتعرضون إال لك، وضاع الملمون إال بك،

and those who retreat - except those who retreat to Thy bounty -

are desolate!

وأجدب المنتجعـون إال من انتجع فضلك،


Thy door is open to the beseechers, Thy munificence free to the

askers,

بابك مفتوح للراغبين، وجودك مباح للسائلين،

Thy help near to the help-seekers!

وإغاثتك قريبة من المستغيثين،

The expectant are not disappointed by Thee, those who present

themselves despair not of Thy bestowal,

ال يخيب منـك اآلملون، وال ييأس من عطائك

المتعرضون،

the forgiveness-seekers become not wretched through Thy

vengeance!

.وال يشقى بنقمتك المستغفرون

Thy provision is spread among those who disobey Thee,

رزقك مبسوط لمن عصاك،

Thy clemency presents itself to those hostile toward Thee,

وحلمك معتـرض لمن ناواك،

Thy habit is beneficence toward the evildoers,

عادتك اإلحسـان إلى المسيئين،

and Thy wont is to spare the transgressors,


معتدين وسنتـك اإلبقاء على ال

so much so that Thy lack of haste deludes them from returning,

حتى لقد غرتهم أناتك عن الرجوع،

and Thy disregard bars them from desisting!

.وصدهم إمهالك عن النزوع

Thou actest without haste toward them so that they will come back

to Thy command

تأنيت بهم ليفيئوا إلى أمرك،وإنما

and Thou disregardest them confident in the permanence of Thy

kingdom,

وأمهلتهم ثقة بدوام ملكك،

so Thou sealest him who is worthy of it with felicity,

مت له بها،فمن كان من أهل السعادة خت

and Thou abandonest him who is worthy of it to wretchedness!

ومن كان من أهل الشقاوة خذلته لها،

All of them come home to Thy decree, their affairs revert to Thy

command;

آئلة إلى كلهم صائرون إلى حكمك وأمورهم

أمـرك،


Thy authority grows not feeble through their drawn out term,

لم يهن على طـول مـدتهم سلطانـك

Thy proof is not refuted by the failure to hurry after them.

.ولم يـدحض لتـرك معاجلتهم برهانك

Thy argument is established, never refuted,

حجتك قائمة ال تدحض،

Thy authority fixed, never removed.

وسلطانك ثابت ال يزول،

Permanent woe belongs to him who inclines away from Thee,

فالويل الدائم لمن جنح عنك،

forsaking disappointment to him who is disappointed by Thee,

والخيبة الخاذلة لمن خاب منك،

and the most wretched wretchedness to him who is deluded about

Thee!

.والشقاء االشقى لمن اغتر بك

How much he will move about in Thy chastisement!

ما أكثر تصرفه في عذابك،

How long he will frequent Thy punishment!

وما أطول تردده في عقابك،


How far his utmost end from relief!

بعد غايته من الفرج، وما أ

How he will despair of an easy exit!

نطه من سهولة المخرجوما أق

[All of this] as justice from Thy decree (Thou art not unjust in it!),

عدال من قضائك ال تجور فيه،

and equity from Thy judgement (Thou dost not act wrongfully

against him!).

يف عليه،وإنصافا من حكمك ال تح

Thou supported the arguments, tested the excuses,

بليت االعذار، فقد ظاهرت الحجج، وأ

began with threats, showed gentleness with encouragement,

وقـد تقدمت بـالوعيـد وتلطفت في الترغيب،

struck similitudes, made long the respite,

وضربت االمثال، وأطلت االمهال،

delayed, while Thou art able to hurry,

وأخرت وأنت مستطيع للمعاجلة،

and acted without haste, while Thou art full of quick

accomplishment!


وأنت مليء بالمبادرة،وتأنيت

Not because of incapacity is Thy slowness, feebleness Thy giving

respite,

لم تكن أناتك عجزا، وال إمهالك وهنا،

heedlessness Thy showing restraint, dissemblance Thy waiting!

انتظارك مداراة،وال إمساكك غفلة، وال

But that Thy argument be more conclusive, Thy generosity more

perfect,

بلغ، وكرمك أكمل، بل لتكون حجتك أ

Thy beneficence more exhaustive, Thy favour more complete!

وإحسانك أوفى ونعمتك أتم،

All of this has been and always was, is and ever will be.

كل ذلك كان ولم تزل، وهو كائن وال تزال ،

Thy argument is greater than that its totality be described,

حجتك أجل من أن توصف بكلها،

Thy glory more elevated than that it be limited in its core,

ومجدك أرفـع من أن يحد بكنهه،

Thy favour more abundant than that its entirety be counted,

ونعمتك أكثر من أن تحصى بأسرها،


Thy beneficence more abundant than that thanks be given for its

least amount!

وإحسانك أكثر من أن تشكر على أقله،

Speechlessness has made me fall short of praising Thee,

وقد قصر بي السكوت عن تحميدك،

restraint has made me powerless to glorify Thee,

عن تمجيدك،وفههني اإلمساك

and the most I can do is admit to inability,

وقصاراي اإلقرار بالحسور

not out of desire, my God, but out of incapacity.

ال رغبة ـ يا إلهي ـ بل عجزا،

So here I am: I repair to Thee by coming forward, and I ask from

Thee good support

فها أنا ذا أؤمك بالوفادة، وأسألك حسن الرفادة،

So bless Muhammad and his Household, hear my whispered words,

فصل على محمد وآلـه واسمع نجواي،

grant my supplication, seal not my day with disappointment,

واستجب دعائي وال تختم يومي بخيبتي،

slap not my brow by rejecting my request,


وال تجبهني بالرد في مسألتي،

and make noble my coming from Thee and my going back to Thee!

ليك منقلبي،وأكرم من عندك منصرفي وإ

Surely Thou art not constrained by what Thou desirest, nor

incapable of what Thou art asked!

إنك غير ضائق بما تريد وال عاجز عما تسأل،

Thou art powerful over everything,

وأنت على كل شيء قدير،

and there is no force and no strength save in God, the All-high, the

All-mighty!

.وال حول وال قوة إال باهلل العلي العظيم


Dua Nudba

لعالمينٱلحمد لله رب ا All praise be to Allah the Lord of the worlds.

نبيه على سيدنا محمد للهٱوصلى May Allah send blessings upon our master Mu¦ammad His Prophet

يماوآله وسلم تسل and upon his Household and may He salute them with thorough

salutation.

لحمدٱاللهم لك O Allah, all praise be to You

كى به قضاؤعلى ما جر for Your decree that has been applied

ينكستخلصتهم لنفسك ودٱلذين ٱوليائك في ا to Your vicegerents whom You have purely selected for Yourself

and Your religion;

ا عندكيل مخترت لهم جزٱإذ as You have chosen for them the abundance of what You have in

possession;

يملمقٱيم لنعٱمن


that is the enduring pleasure

ضمحاللٱ لذي ال زوال له والٱ that neither vanishes nor diminishes,

لزهدٱن شرطت عليهم بعد ا after You had already stipulated on them to renounce

لدنيةٱلدنيا ٱفي درجات هذه all the ranks of this lowly world

وزخرفها وزبرجهاalong with all of its embellishments and ornaments,

لك ذلك ٱفشرطو and they accepted this stipulation.

لوفاء بهٱوعلمت منهم As You knew that they would fulfill this stipulation,

فقبلتهم وقربتهمYou accepted and drew them near to You.

لعليٱلذكر ٱوقدمت لهم You thus provided them with sublime mention

يلجلٱلثناء ٱو


and obvious approval,

هبطت عليهم مالئكتكوا made Your angels descend to them,

بوحيك وكرمتهم honored them with Your revelations,

ورفدتهم بعلمكsupported them with Your knowledge,

يعة إليكلذرٱوجعلتهم and made them the channel to You

يلة إلى رضوانكلوسٱو and the means to winning Your pleasure.

سكنته جنتكفبعض ا Therefore, You made some of them dwell in Your Garden

خرجته منهان اإلى ا until You decided to take him out of there.

وبعض حملته في فلككYou bore another one on in Your Ark

ونجيته ومن آمن معه


and saved him and those who believed with him

لهلكة برحمتكٱمن from perdition, out of Your mercy.

يالتخذته لنفسك خلٱوبعض You took another one as Your intimate friend

جبتهين فاخرآلٱفي لك لسان صدقوسا and when he asked You to leave behind him a truthful mention,

You responded to him

وجعلت ذلك علياand made that (mention) to be eminent.

يماتكل وبعض كلمته من شجرة You spoke to another one from a tree directly

يرايه ردءا ووزخوجعلت له من ا and decided his brother to be his protector and representative.

بولدته من غير اوبعض ا You made another one to be born without a father,

لبيناتٱوآتيته gave him clear-cut proofs


لقدسٱيدته بروح وا and aided him with the Sacred Spirit.

يعةوكل شرعت له شر For each of them, You gave a code of law,

ونهجت له منهاجاdecided a certain course,

وصياءوتخيرت له ا and finely chose successors;

بعد مستحفظ مستحفظا well-trustworthy successors one after another,

إلى مدة من مدة each for a certain period,

ينكإقامة لد in purpose of establishing Your religion

وحجة على عبادكand acting as arguments against Your servants,

لحق عن مقرهٱولئال يزول so that the truth should never leave its position


هلهلباطل على اٱويغلب and the wrong should never overcome the people of the truth

حدوال يقول ا and so that none should claim, saying,

رسلت إلينا رسوال منذراال ا لو “If only You had sent to us a warning messenger

قمت لنا علما هادياوا and established for us a guiding person,

ىن نذل ونخزفنتبع آياتك من قبل ا we should have followed Your signs before that we met humiliation

and disgrace!”

يبك محمدك ونجيبمر إلى حبالٱب نتهيتٱن إلى ا You then ended the matter with Your most-beloved and well-select

one, Mu¦ammad,

لله عليه وآلهٱصلى may Allah bless him and his Household.

نتجبتهٱفكان كما He was—as exactly as You have chosen—


خلقته سيد من the master of all those whom You created,

صطفيتهٱوصفوة من the best of all those whom You selected,

جتبيتهٱفضل من وا the most favorite of all those whom You pointed out,

دتهعتمٱكرم من وا and the noblest of all those on whom You decided.

نبيائكقدمته على ا So, You preferred him to Your prophets,

لثقلين من عبادكٱوبعثته إلى sent him to the two dependents (men and jinn) from Your servants,

ته مشارقك ومغاربكاوطوا enabled him to tread on the east and the west of Your lands,

لبراقٱوسخرت له made subservient to him the Bur¡q (the celestial sumpter),

وعرجت بروحه إلى سمائكraised his soul to Your heavens,


ودعته علم ما كانوا and entrusted with him the knowledge of whatever passed

نقضاء خلقكٱوما يكون إلى and whatever shall come to pass up to the extinction of Your

creatures.

لرعبٱثم نصرته ب You then granted him victory by means of horror

يليكائيل وموحففته بجبرئ ordered (Archangels) Gabriel and Michael

ين من مالئكتكلمسومٱو as well as the marked angels to surround him,

لدين كلهٱينه على ن تظهر دووعدته ا and promised him to make his faith prevail all other faiths

لمشركونٱولو كره however much the polytheists may be averse.

هلهمن ا صدق ابوته مان بولك بعد اوذ You did all that after You had settled him in an honest position

among his people,


ول بيتوجعلت له ولهم ا made for him and them the first house

اس للذي ببكةوضع للن ever located for the people; that is the house in Bakkah,

للعالمين مباركا وهدى blessed and guidance for the worlds.

يه آيات بيناتف In it, there are clear-cut proofs.

مقام إبراهيمIt is the standing-place of Abraham,

ومن دخله كان آمناand whoever enters it will be secured.

لرجسٱلله ليذهب عنكم ٱيد إنما ير»وقلت You also said, “Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness

from you,

لبيتٱهل ا O people of the House,

«.يراويطهركم تطه


and to purify you a thorough purifying.”

جر محمدثم جعلت ا You then decided the reward of Mu¦ammad,

صلواتك عليه وآلهYour blessings be upon him and his Household,

مودتهم في كتابكto be the love for them; as in Your Book

جرالكم عليه اساقل ال ا»فقلت You said, “Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it

«.ىلقربٱلمودة في ٱإال but love for my near relatives.”

«.لكم فهو جرلتكم من اما سا»وقلت You also said, “Whatever reward I have asked of you, that is only

for yourselves.”

جرلكم عليه من اساما ا»وقلت You also said, “I do not ask you aught in return

«.ن يتخذ إلى ربه سبيالشاء ا إال من except that he who wills, may take the way to his Lord.”


يل إليكلسبٱهم ٱفكانو They (i.e. the Prophet’s Household) have therefore been the way to

You

لمسلك إلى رضوانكٱو and the course to Your pleasure.

يامهنقضت اٱفلما When his (i.e. the Prophet) days passed,

ي طالببقام وليه علي بن اا he appointed as successor his vicegerent `Al¢ the son of Ab£-±¡lib,

صلواتك عليهما وآلهما هادياYour blessings be upon both of them and their Household,

لمنذرٱإذ كان هو because he (the Prophet) was the warner

هاد ولكل قوم and `Al¢ was the guide for every people.

:مامها الملٱفقال و So, he (the Prophet) said in the presence of the people,

من كنت مواله”


“As for each one who has taken me as his master,

فعلي موالهÀl¢ is now his master.

اللهم وال من واالهO Allah, guard any one who is loyal to Àl¢,

وعاد من عاداهbe the enemy of any one who antagonizes him,

نصر من نصرهٱو support any one who supports him,

“.خذل من خذلهٱو and disappoint any one who disappoints him.”

“.يرهما نا نبيه فعليمن كنت ا”: وقال He also said, “As for any one who has considered me as his

Prophet, Àl¢ is now his commander.”

واحدة نا وعلي من شجرةا” :وقال He also said, “Àl¢ and I are of the same tree,

“.ىشت اس من شجرلنٱ وسائر while all the other peoples are from various trees.”


حله محل هارون من موسىوا He endued him (i.e. `Al¢) with the position that (Prophet) Aaron

had with regard to (Prophet) Moses,

نت مني بمنزلة هارون من موسىا” :له فقال saying, “Your position to me is as same as Aaron’s position to

Moses (in every thing)

“.ينه ال نبي بعدإال ا except that there shall be no prophet after me.”

لعالمينٱبنته سيدة نساء ٱوزوجه He gave him in marriage his daughter the doyenne of the women of

the worlds.

حل له من مسجده ما حل لهوا He allowed him (alone) to do whatever he himself is allowed to do

in his Mosque.

بواب إال بابهالٱوسد He closed all the doors (to the Mosque) except his (i.e. `Al¢) door.

ودعه علمه وحكمتهثم ا He then entrusted with him his knowledge and his wisdom,

لعلمٱينة نا مدا”: فقال


saying, “I am the city of knowledge,

بابها يوعل and `Al¢ is its door.

لحكمةٱينة ومدلٱراد فمن ا So, whoever wants this city and wisdom,

“.تها من بابهاافلي must come to it from its door.”

يي ووارثي ووصيخنت اا”: ثم قال He then said (to `Al¢), “You are my brother, successor, and

inheritor.

يمن لحملحمك Your flesh is part of my flesh,

يودمك من دم your blood is part of my blood,

يوسلمك سلم your peace is my peace,

يوحربك حرب your war is my war,


مان مخالط لحمك ودمكـيإلٱو and faith is mixed with your flesh and blood

يي ودمكما خالط لحم as same as it is mixed with my flesh and blood.

ييفتعلى الحوض خل نت غداوا On the morrow, you shall be my vicegerent on the (Divine) Pond.

يي ديننت تقضوا You also settle my debts

يعداتوتنجز and fulfill my commitments.

يعتك على منابر من نوروش Your Sh¢`ah (i.e. adherents) shall be on pulpits of light,

لجنةٱي في مبيضة وجوههم حول white-faced, around me in Paradise.

ييرانوهم ج They are my neighbors (therein).

نت يا عليولوال ا Were it not for you `Al¢,


“.يلمؤمنون بعدٱلم يعرف true believers would not be recognized after me.”

لضاللٱوكان بعده هدى من Hence, he (i.e. `Al¢), after the Prophet, was true guidance against

straying off,

ىلعمٱمن ونورا light against blindness,

ينلمتٱلله ٱوحبل the firmest rope of Allah,

يملمستقٱوصراطه and His straight path.

في رحم ال يسبق بقرابة None would precede him in blood relation (with the Prophet)

ينفي د وال بسابقة or any priority in a religious affair,

من مناقبه وال يلحق في منقبة and none would ever match him in any item of virtue.

لرسولٱيحذو حذو


He patterned after the Messenger,

له عليهما وآلهمالٱصلى may Allah’s blessings be upon both of them and their Household.

يلوالتٱويقاتل على He fought for the sake of true interpretation (of the Qur'¡n).

لله لومة الئمٱخذه في اوال ت The blame of any blamer would never stop him from doing

anything for the sake of Allah.

لعربٱيد يه صنادقد وتر ف He thus exterminated the villains of the Arabs,

بطالهموقتل ا killed their heroes,

وناوش ذؤبانهمand eradicated their ferocious fighters.

حقاداودع قلوبهم افا He therefore filled in their hearts with malice

بدرية وخيبرية وحنينية وغيرهنfrom the battles of Badr, Khaybar, and °unayn as well as others.


ضبت على عداوتهفا Therefore, they clang inseparably to opposing him

كبت على منابذتهوا and attached upon dissenting him

ينلمارقٱين ولقاسطٱين واكثلنٱحتى قتل until he had to kill the preachers, the unjust, and the apostates.

قضى نحبهولما When he passed away

ينولالٱشقى ين يتبع اخرآلٱشقى وقتله ا and he was killed by the most miserable of all of the late

generations who will be attached to the most miserable of the past

generations,

للهٱر رسول ملم يمتثل ا the decree of Allah’s Messenger,

لله عليه وآلهٱصلى may Allah bless him and his Household,

لهادينٱلهادين بعد ٱفي about the leadership of the successive guiding ones was not carried

out;


لى مقتهمة مصرة عالٱو rather, the people insisted on detesting him

يعة رحمهمجتمعة على قط and agreed unanimously on rupturing their relations with him

وإقصاء ولدهand moving away his descendants (from leadership),

يهملحق فٱى لرعاية ممن وفيل لقلٱإال except for a few ones who fulfilled the duty of observing their

rights.

فقتل من قتلMany (of `Al¢’s descendants) were therefore slain,

وسبي من سبيmany others were taken as captives,

قصياقصي من او and many others were banished.

لقضاء لهمٱوجرى Decrees were thus applied to them

لمثوبةٱى له حسن بما يرج


in a form expected to grant them excellent reward for that.

رض للهالٱإذ كانت Verily, the earth is Allah’s;

يورثها من يشاء من عبادهHe gives it in inheritance to whomever of His servants that He

wishes;

ينلعاقبة للمتقٱو and the end result shall be for the pious.

وسبحان ربناAll glory be to our Lord.

كان وعد ربنا لمفعوالإن Most certainly, the promise of our Lord shall come to pass.

لله وعدهٱولن يخلف Allah shall never fail to fulfill His promise.

يملحكٱيز لعزٱوهو He is the Almighty, the All-wise.

هل بيت محمد وعليب من اطائالٱفعلى For the immaculate ones from the household of Mu¦ammad and

`Al¢,


لله عليهما وآلهماٱصلى may Allah bless both of them and their household,

لباكونٱفليبك let weepers weep.

ادبونلنٱوإياهم فليندب For them too, let lamenters lament.

لدموعٱولمثلهم فلتذرف For the like of them, let tears be shed,

ارخونلصٱوليصرخ screamers scream,

لضاجونٱويضج yellers yell,

لعاجونٱويعج and wailers wail.

لحسينٱين لحسن اٱين ا Where is al-°asan? Where is al-°usayn?

لحسينٱبناء ين اا Where are the sons of al-°usayn;


صالح بعد صالحa virtuous one after another,

وصادق بعد صادقand a veracious one after another?

يللسبٱيل بعد لسبٱين ا Where is the course (to Allah) after a course?

لخيرةٱلخيرة بعد ٱين ا Where is the best after the best?

لطالعةٱلشموس ٱين ا Where are the rising suns?

يرةلمنٱقمار الٱين ا Where are the shining moons?

اهرةلزٱنجم الٱين ا Where are the brilliant stars?

لدينٱعالم ين اا Where are the authorities of the religion

لعلمٱوقواعد and the foundations of knowledge?


للهٱين بقية ا Where is the left by Allah

لهاديةٱلعترة ٱلتي ال تخلو من ٱ that is always represented by individuals from the guiding

(Prophetic) offspring?

لظلمةٱمعد لقطع دابر لٱين ا Where is the one prepared for cutting off the roots of the

wrongdoers?

لعوجٱمت والٱلمنتظر إلقامة ٱين ا Where is the one awaited for mending every unevenness and

crookedness?

لعدوانٱلجور وٱلمرتجى إلزالة ٱين ا Where is the one hoped for removing oppression and aggression?

لسننٱلفرائض وٱيد لمدخر لتجدٱين ا Where is the one spared for refreshing the duties and traditions?

يعةلشرٱلملة وٱلمتخير إلعادة ٱين ا Where is the one chosen for restoring the faith and the code of law?

لكتاب وحدودهٱلمؤمل إلحياء ٱين ا


Where is the one expected to restore to life the Book and its

provisions?

هلهلدين واٱ ي معالمين محيا Where is the reviver of the elements of the religion and its people?

ينلمعتدٱين قاصم شوكة ا Where is the one shattering the arms of the aggressors?

لنفاقٱلشرك وٱبنية ين هادم اا Where is the one demolishing the edifices of polytheism and

hypocrisy?

لفسوقٱهل يد اين مبا Where is the one annihilating the people of wickedness,

لطغيانٱلعصيان وٱو disobedience, and tyranny?

لشقاقٱلغي وٱين حاصد فروع ا Where is the one uprooting the branches of error and insurgence?

واءهالٱلزيغ وٱين طامس آثار ا Where is the one effacing the traces of evasiveness and personal

desires?

اءفترٱلٱلكذب وٱين قاطع حبائل ا


Where is the one severing the ropes of fabrication and forgery?

لمردةٱلعتاة وٱيد ين مبا Where is the one terminating the insolent defiant and persistent

rebels?

إللحادٱيل ولتضلٱلعناد وٱهل صل ااين مستا Where is the one tearing up the people of obstinacy, misleading,

and atheism?

عداءالٱولياء ومذل الٱين معز ا Where is the one ennobling the saints and humiliating the enemies?

ىلتقوٱ لكلمة علىٱين جامع ا Where is the one bringing together (all scattered) words to piety?

ىلذي منه يؤتٱلله ٱين باب ا Where is the door of Allah from which Allah is come?

ولياءالٱلذي إليه يتوجه ٱلله ٱين وجه ا Where is the Face of Allah towards whom the saints turn their

faces.

لسماءٱرض والٱلمتصل بين ٱلسبب ٱين ا Where is the means of access that is connectedly extended between

the earth and the heavens.


لفتحٱين صاحب يوم ا Where is the patron of the Conquest Day

لهدىٱوناشر راية and the stretcher of the pennon of true guidance?

لرضاٱلصالح وٱين مؤلف شمل ا Where is the one reunifying the dispersed parts of uprightness and

contentment?

نبياءالٱبناء نبياء واالٱلطالب بذحول ٱين ا Where is the one demanding with the vengeance of the Prophets

and their sons?

لمقتول بكربالءٱلطالب بدم ٱين ا Where is the one demanding with the blood of the one slain in

Karbal¡'?

ىفترٱى عليه وعتدٱلمنصور على من ٱين ا Where is the one granted aid against whomever transgresses and

forges lies against him?

لذي يجاب إذا دعاٱلمضطر ٱين ا Where is the distressed who is answered when he prays?

ىلتقوٱلبر وٱ لخالئق ذوٱين صدر ا


Where is the forepart of the creatures who enjoys dutifulness and

piety?

ىطفلمصٱ يلنبٱبن ٱين ا Where is the son of the well-chosen Prophet,

ىلمرتضٱبن علي ٱو the son of `Al¢ the well-pleased,

اءلغرٱجة ـيبن خدٱو the son of Khad¢jah the glittery lady,

ىلكبرٱبن فاطمة ٱو and the son of F¡§imah the grand lady?

يمانت وي اببا May my father and mother be ransoms for you.

ىلحمٱلوقاء وٱ ونفسي لك May my soul be protection and shield for you.

لمقربينٱلسادة ٱيا بن O son of the chiefs drawn near!

ينكرمالٱء النجبٱيا بن O son of the most honorable, outstanding ones!


ينلمهديٱلهداة ٱيا بن O son of the guiding and well-guided ones!

ينلمهذبٱلخيرة ٱيا بن O son of the ever-best refined ones!

يننجبالٱلغطارفة ٱيا بن O son of the all-liberal and all-select ones!

ينلمطهرٱطائب الٱيا بن O son of the immaculate and purified ones!

ينلمنتجبٱلخضارمة ٱيا بن O son of the ample-giving, finely elected ones!

ينكرمالٱلقماقمة ٱيا بن O son of the bounteous, most honorable ones!

يرةلمنٱلبدور ٱيا بن O son of light-giving full moons!

يئةلمضٱلسرج ٱيا بن O son of beaming lanterns!

لثاقبةٱلشهب ٱيا بن O son of piercing flames!


اهرةلزٱنجم الٱيا بن O son of luminous stars!

لواضحةٱلسبل ٱيا بن O son of patent ways!

ئحةلالٱعالم الٱيا بن O son of obvious signs!

لكاملةٱلعلوم ٱ يا بن O son of perfect knowledge!

لمشهورةٱلسنن ٱيا بن O son of renowned traditions!

ثورةالمٱلمعالم ٱيا بن O son of well-established features!

لموجودةٱلمعجزات ٱيا بن O son of well-known miracles!

لمشهودةٱلدالئل ٱيا بن O son of widely witnessed demonstrations!

يملمستقٱراط لصٱيا بن O son of the straight path!


يملعظٱ إلنبٱيا بن O son of the great news!

يملله علي حكٱلكتاب لدى ٱم ايا بن من هو في O son of him who is elevated and full of wisdom in the original of

the Book with Allah.

لبيناتٱات ويآلٱيا بن O son of signs and manifestations!

اهراتلظٱلدالئل ٱيا بن O son of apparent points of evidence!

لباهراتٱلواضحات ٱين لبراهٱيا بن O son of clear-cut and dazzling substantiations!

غاتلبالٱلحجج ٱيا بن O son of conclusive arguments!

لسابغاتٱلنعم ٱيا بن O son of superabundant bounties!

لمحكماتٱو هـيا بن ط O son of ±¡h¡ and the decisive (verses)!

لذارياتٱس وـيا بن ي


O son of Y¡s¢n and al-Dh¡riy¡t (the winnowing winds)!

لعادياتٱلطور وٱيا بن O son of al-±£r (the Mount of Revelation) and al-`ªdiy¡t (the

running steeds)!

ىيا بن من دنا فتدل O son of him who drew near and then bowed;

ىدنو افكان قاب قوسين ا he therefore was the measure of two bows or closer still;

ىعلالٱلعلي ٱقترابا من ٱو ادنو nearness and closeness to the Most High and Most Exalted (Lord)!

ىلنوٱستقرت بك ٱين ي اليت شعر How I wonder! Where has farness taken you?

ىو ثرتقلك ا رضاي بل ا Or which land or soil is carrying you?

ىي طوم ذو غيرها اى ابرضوا Is it on (Mount) Ra¤w¡ or elsewhere on (Mount) Dh¢-±uw¡?

ىوال تر لخلقٱرى ن ايز علي اعز It is hard for me that I can see all creatures but I can neither see

you


ىيسا وال نجوسمع لك حسوال ا nor can I hear any whisper or confidential talk from you!

ىلبلوٱيط بك دوني ن تحيز علي اعز It is hard for me that ordeals encompass you, not me

ىيج وال شكوينالك مني ضجوال and neither cry nor complaint from me can rally round you!

الم يخل من من مغيب نتبنفسي ا May my soul be ransom for you; for although you are hidden from

us, you have never forsaken us.

اما نزح عن نت من نازحابنفسي May my soul be ransom for you; for although you are away, you

have never been away from us.

ىيتمن منية شائقانت بنفسي ا May my soul be ransom for you; for you are the wish of an eager

اذكرا فحن ومؤمنة من مؤمن believing man or woman who mention you and miss you.

ىيسام يد عز النت من عقبنفسي ا May my soul be ransom for you; for you are an unmatched pioneer

of dignity.


ىرال يجا يل مجدثنت من ابنفسي ا May my soul be ransom for you; for you are an unrivaled origin of

glory.

ىال تضاه نت من تالد نعمبنفسي ا May my soul be ransom for you; for you are unparalleled center of

bounties.

ىال يساو يف شرفنت من نصبنفسي ا May my soul be ransom for you; for you are unequaled in all -

inclusive honor.

ىى متحار فيك يا موالي وإلى اإلى مت Until when will I be bewildered about you, O my master, and until

when?

ىي نجوصف فيك واا خطاب يوا In what kind of statement and in what kind of talk can I describe

you?

ىناغاجاب دونك وان يز علي اعز It is hard for me that I can receive answers and words, but you

cannot.

ىلورٱبكيك ويخذلك ن ايز علي اعز It is hard for me that I weep for you but the others disappoint you.


ىن يجري عليك دونهم ما جريز علي اعز It is hard for me that what has happened afflict you other than all

the others.

لبكاءٱيل ولعوٱيل معه طاف ينهل من مع Is there any helper with whom I may lament and bewail as much as

I wish?

ساعد جزعه إذا خالاف هل من جزوع Is there any aggrieved one whom I can help in grief when he

becomes tired?

ىلقذٱي على هل قذيت عين فساعدتها عين Is there any eye moling out and thus my eye may help it to mol out

more?

ىحمد سبيل فتلقهل إليك يا بن ا Is there any way to meet you, O son of A¦mad (the Prophet)?

ىفنحظ هل يتصل يومنا منك بعدة Will our day be promised to catch your day and we will thus

achieve our hope?

ىلروية فنروٱى نرد مناهلك مت When will we be able to join your refreshing springs and we will

then be satiated?


ى ننتقع من عذب مائكمت When will we quench our thirst from your fresh water,

ىلصدٱفقد طال because thirst has been too long?

يك ونراوحك فنقر عيناى نغادمت When will we accompany you in coming and going so that our eyes

will be delighted?

ىلنصر ترٱنراك وقد نشرت لواء ى ترانا ومت When will you see us and we see you spreading the pennon of

victory?

الملٱم ؤنت تترانا نحف بك واا Can it be that we surround you while you are leading the groups,

رض عدالالٱت اوقد مل after you will have filled in the earth with justice,

وعقابا عداءك هواناذقت اوا tasted your enemies humiliation and punishment,

لحقٱلعتاة وجحدة ٱبرت وا annihilated the insolent defiant and the deniers of the truth,


ينلمتكبرٱوقطعت دابر cut off the roots of the arrogant,

ينالملظٱصول اجتثثت ٱو eradicated the sources of the wrongdoers,

لعالمينٱلحمد لله رب ٱونحن نقول and we keep on saying, “All praise be to Allah the Lord of the

worlds?”

ىلبلوٱلكرب وٱاف نت كشاللهم ا O Allah, You are verily the reliever from agonies and ordeals.

ىلعدوٱفعندك يستعدوإليك ا To You do I complain about the transgressions against me, for You

alone are worthy of receiving complaints,

لدنياٱآلخرة وٱنت رب وا and You are alone the Lord of the Hereafter and this world.

ىلمبتلٱين عبيدك يثلمستغٱغث يا غياث فا So, (please) aid Your agonized worthless servant, O Aide of those

who seek aid,

ىلقوٱيد ره سيده يا شدوا


grant him (i.e. Your servant) chance to see his master, O Lord of

mighty prowess,

ىلجوٱى وسالٱزل عنه به وا remove from him misfortune and anguish, in the name of his

master,

ىستوٱلعرش ٱيله يا من على وبرد غل and satisfy his thirst, O He Who is established on the Throne

ىلمنتهٱى ولرجعٱومن إليه and He to Whom is the return and the final goal.

ائقون إلى وليكلتٱيدك اللهم ونحن عب O Allah, we are Your servants who are fervently willing to meet

Your vicegerent,

لمذكر بك وبنبيكٱ who reminds of You and Your Prophet;

خلقته لنا عصمة ومالذاand whom You have created as haven and refuge for us,

قمته لنا قواما ومعاذاوا You have appointed as foundation and source of protection for us,

ا إماماين منوجعلته للمؤمن


and whom You have made to be the leader of the believers among

us.

تحية وسالماا فبلغه من So, (please) convey to him greetings and salutations from us,

رب إكراما لك ياوزدنا بذ endue us with more honor, O my Lord, through that,

ومقاما اجعل مستقره لنا مستقرٱو decide his settlement among us to be settlement and dwelling for

us,

مامنامك إياه اـيتمم نعمتك بتقدوا and perfect Your bounty by making him occupy the leading

position before us

حتى توردنا جنانكso that You shall allow us to enter the gardens of Your Paradise

لشهداء من خلصائكٱومرافقة and to accompany the martyrs from among Your elite ones.

اللهم صل على محمد وآل محمدO Allah, (please) send blessings upon Mu¦ammad and the

Household of Mu¦ammad;


ى محمد جده ورسولكوصل عل and send blessings upon Mu¦ammad his grandfather and Your

messenger;

كبرالٱلسيد ٱ the senior master,

صغرالٱلسيد ٱيه بوعلى ا upon his father the junior master,

ىلكبرٱلصديقة ٱوجدته upon his grandmother the grand veracious lady

فاطمة بنت محمدF¡§imah the daughter of Mu¦ammad,

لله عليه وآلهٱصلى peace be upon him and his Household,

لبررةٱصطفيت من آبائه ٱوعلى من upon his dutiful fathers whom You have chosen (over all others),

كملفضل واوعليه ا and upon him with such most favorable, most perfect,

دومتم واوا


most thorough, most permanent,

وفركثر واوا most abundant, and most plentiful

صفيائكمن ا دحما صليت على ا blessings that You have ever sent upon any of Your elite ones

وخيرتك من خلقكand well-chosen ones among Your creatures.

وصل عليه صالة ال غاية لعددهاAnd (please) bless him with such blessings whose number is

infinite,

وال نهاية لمددهاwhose quantity is never-ending,

مدهاوال نفاد ال and whose time is interminable.

لحقٱقم به اللهم وا O Allah! Through him, establish all rights,

لباطلٱدحض به وا refute the entire wrong,


ولياءكدل به اوا grant triumph to Your loyalists,

عداءكذلل به اوا humiliate Your enemies,

هم بيننا وبينهللٱوصل establish, O Allah, between him and us

إلى مرافقة سلفه يوصلة تؤد a connection that leads us to accompany his ancestors,

خذ بحجزتهماجعلنا ممن يٱو include us with those who will take their vengeance

ويمكث في ظلهمand keep constant under their shadow,

إليهدية حقوقه اا على تعنوا help us fulfill our duties towards him,

جتهاد في طاعتهٱلٱو exert all efforts in obedience to him

جتناب معصيتهٱو and avoiding disobeying him,


منن علينا برضاهٱو bestow upon us with the favor of attaining his pleasure,

فته ورحمتهاوهب لنا ر and grant us his kindness, mercy,

ودعاءه وخيرهprayer (for us), and his goodness

ننال به سعة من رحمتك ما in an amount due to which we will gain a good deal of Your mercy

عندك وفوزا and achievement with You.

جعل صالتنا به مقبولةٱو And, through him, render our prayers admitted,

وذنوبنا به مغفورةour sins forgiven,

ودعاءنا به مستجاباand our supplications responded.

مبسوطةرزاقنا به جعل اٱو And, through him too, make our sustenance expanded for us,


وهمومنا به مكفيةour distresses relieved,

ئجنا به مقضيةاوحو and our needs granted.

مـيلكرٱقبل إلينا بوجهك وا And (please) receive us with Your Noble Face,

قبل تقربنا إليكٱو approve of our seeking nearness to You,

يمةنظر إلينا نظرة رحٱو and have a merciful look at us

لكرامة عندكٱنستكمل بها by which we will win perfect honor with You;

ا بجودكتصرفها عن ثم ال and, after that, do not ever take it away from us, in the name of

Your magnanimity,

سقنا من حوض جدهٱو and give us a drink from the Pond of his grandfather,

لله عليه وآلهٱصلى


may Allah bless him and his Household,

سه وبيدهابك from his own cup and with his own hand,

رويا ريا such a replete, satiating,

سائغا يئاهن pleasant, and wholesome drink

بعده ال ظما after which we shall never suffer from thirst.

لراحمينٱرحم يا ا O most merciful of all those who show mercy!


Supplication after Dua Nudba on Eid Day

Sayyid Ibn ±¡w£s has instructed, saying: After saying Du`¡' al-

Nudbah, prostrate yourself and say the following:

ايطف ال هاحر نار من بك عوذا

I seek refuge with You from fire whose heat is never extinguished,

يبلى ال وجديدها

whose fresh flame never deteriorates,

يروى ال وعطشانهاand whose thirsty is never quenched.

You may then put your right cheek on the ground and say the

following:

اري في ٱلنتقلب وجه إلهي الO my God, (please) do not turn my face in Hellfire

ي لكيري وتعفبعد سجودafter I have prostrated myself and soiled my face before You;

ي عليكبغير من منit is not a show of favor from me to You,

بل لك ٱلمن علي


but it is You Who have this favor on me.

You may then put your left cheek on the ground and say the

following:

ساء وٱقترفإرحم من اHave mercy on one who has transgressed and committed blunders,

وٱستكان وٱعترفbut is now showing humility and confessing.

You may then return to the (ordinary) prostration and say the

following:

إن كنت بئس ٱلعبدIf I am the most miserable servant (of You),

نت نعم ٱلربفاYou are verily the best Lord.

عظم ٱلذنب من عبدكGrand is the sin of Your servant;

يمفليحسن ٱلعفو من عندك يا كرso, let pardon of You be nice. O All-noble.

You may then repeat the following word 100 times:
