Construction Report
37 Intervale Street, Dorchester, MA 02121
ICNA Relief USA is pleased to announce the development of the first Transitional
Housing Program for Women in Massachusetts. The home will be called the Amal
(Hope) Women’s Center which is
befitting considering the history of
the home and the neighborhood.
The property located at 37 Inter-
vale Street in Dorchester, MA is
owned by neighboring Masjid Al-
Quran, one of the oldest Mosques
in the metro Boston area. The
neighborhood is one rich in culture
and historical perseverance. It
boasts a rich heritage which ICNA
Relief seeks to honor by developing
programming which celebrates the
cultural diversity of the community while paying homage to the historical greats who
passed through the doors of the planned Amal Women’s Center.

Construction Update
Architectural drawings done
Demolition (complete gut out), mold remediation and de-leading complete
New windows, patched roof, chimney repair and an exterior facing wall was
replaced - complete
Electrical; rewired entire building - complete, passed inspection
Plumbing and heating is near completion which consisted of ripping out old
pipes and radiators and replacing with new plumbing and heating. New
kitchen and bathroom (3 ½ baths) fixtures have been installed; 4 toilets, 2
showers, 1 tub and 5 sinks.
Installed Fire Sprinklers via the city’s requirements for Transitional Housing /
Rooming House. This entailed drawings submitted to Fire Department and a
tank system being installed with sprinkler heads. NEXT STEPS: wiring sprin-
kler system to a fire alarm panel, testing and then calling for the city and fire
department to inspect.
Renovations; currently the General Contractor is on hold, he cannot move
forward until plumbing and fire sprinklers pass necessary inspections. NEXT
STEPS: Once those are complete he will call for a framing inspection after
which he can begin to insulate, hang sheetrock and finish the remodeling;
flooring, tiles, cabinetry, etc. Once we’ve reached this stage we will be look-
ing for volunteers to help us with painting and some of the finishing touches.
We are hoping to reach this stage within the next couple months depending
on inspections. Once we’ve reached this stage it will be only a few weeks un-
til final completion and grand opening InshaAllah
