Amália Rodrigues

Amália Rodrigues was born Portugal July 23rd, 1920 in Lisbon, to a poor family. She is known as

the Queen of fado. She showed her singing talent when she was young, she had a great success.

She had a tour in World War II in Spain and Brazil. In 1947 she became an actress in a Portuguese movie and it was the best movie of the year. She also sang poems. Also Variety's magazine chose her in 1959 as one of the four best female singers in history. Suddenly she died at the age of 50 while she was sleeping in her house of Lisbon on October 6th, 1999, and her fans attended her funeral.
