Aim

*To be able to effectively work in partnership for students at risk of becoming NEET.

Objectives

*Understand the RONI and how to utilise as a tool to reduce students at risk of NEET.

*Understand the post 16 offer for these students.

* Identify any barriers within own school and ways to address this.

*The RONI ‘scores’ individual students against a criteria checklist.

*Each criteria has a weighting. *These are added up to highlight: *Red – 4+ substantial support needed to avoid

becoming NEET *Amber – 2-3 additional support needed *Green – 1 additional support should be offered

(but not necessarily needed)

*Identify Year 11 students at risk of being NEET from cross checking RONI and school lists

*Help students apply for a suitable post-16 offer

*Arrange for Hub worker to meet identified students in school before study leave

*Refer to Hub worker to work with them over the summer to encourage September start

*Liaise with Hub worker to encourage family support for young person.

*March – identify students at risk of becoming NEET and meet up with the Hub worker to advise best service to refer to

*April - Hub worker then meets students in school to introduce themselves and explain what they can offer

*May – students start GCSE study leave – no longer at school

*May – Sept – Hub worker works with young people and encourages them to start course in September.

*September – Speak to Hub worker to determine destinations of ex students.

*

*Service is commissioned by Oxford County Council and run by Prospects.

*Support 16-19 NEET ‘vulnerable’ young people into EET.

*Work in multiagency setting to break down barriers.

*Embedded in Early Intervention Service.

*Qualified IAG workers. Impartial info provided.

*Promoting a transition not an NEET culture. *Work with schools and identification of

students would like to refer (using RONI). *Provides a ‘warm’ referral and supports

transition. *Can support students with out an intended

destination. *Can support students with a destination but

there is uncertainty if they will transition.
