One of the attractions of 4th largest city in China, Tianjin is a wonderful porcelain palace Ci Fangzi. Tianjin is quite a bit smaller and quieter than Beijing, and it’s a pretty  modern city. There was a lot of European and modern architecture that was cool to see. Our trip started off with a visit to a house that was essentially made out of porcelain.

All this splendor - the work of a local businessman Zhang Lianzhi, who spent his life and over $300 million to convert a nondescript building into mosaic of ancient ceramic pieces from damaged antiques. One day he decided to use the collected porcelain finishing the old mansion. At the finish it took five years. From the second in September 2007 the house is open to visitors as a museum.
