Milton-Freewater Matters! The message rang loud and clear from the efforts left behind at

the April 20th MF Downtown Alliance “Make A Difference Day” Spring Clean Up. The

Kiwanis, Rotary, high school and MFDA weeded, trimmed, raked, mowed and removed

garbage in a concentrated clean-up of Freewater Main Street areas from 1st to 8th Avenues.

The buzz of lawn mowers, weed eaters and the many extra hands left a definite satisfactory

result behind. It is amazing how much work can be accomplished when a crew digs in and is

on a mission. Thank you to each individual that took time out of their Saturday to help make

Milton-Freewater Matter! Another clean-up is planned for Fall. Watch for details and

become a volunteer in the city that should matter most to you……..your home town!

Another great Saturday event was the Open House held at Birch Creek Plant Factory in the

afternoon. Kevin and his staff graciously hosted this event with delicious hors d’oeuvres and

desserts. The grounds are beautiful and the selection is endless. Whether you are looking

for bedding plants, shrubs, trees or ornamental lawn décor, Birch Creek Plant Factory can

meet your every need. Memorial Day is May 27th; now is a good time to buy your plants and

get them potted to take to the cemetery or choose from the many ready-to-go selections.

The valley will soon be filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, which means the opening of

Farmers Market on Wednesday, June 5th at Orchard Park. Vendors offer a wonderful selec-

tion of items to include baked goods, plants, berries, novelty items, as well as produce and

fruits as they become available. The market will operate from 4-7pm each Wednesday all

summer long.

Looking for a new camping experience? Harris Park sits at the base of the Blue Mountains on the south fork of the Walla Walla River. This past year, yurts have been added to the

campground for those campers that don’t own a tent, travel trailer or an RV. You still need

to bring your own sleeping bag, food, fishing gear and other essentials, but the camping

experience is the same. Harris Park also has a convenient day use area, play equipment and

nice kitchen space for group rental. To reserve a yurt, camp space or the kitchen, call
