13-Night Great Alaskan Frontier Expedition
Celebrity Millennium CruiseTour
May 26-June 8, 2018
America’s Last Great Frontier We’ve all seen photos and television programs featuring Alaska but somehow they
simply cannot due justice to the vast wilderness and majesty of Alaska. Unfortunately,
most visitors to Alaska don’t venture far inland and miss much of what makes our 49th
and largest state special. For example, Denali National
Park encompasses 9,500 square miles where you will
find only one road, North America’s tallest mountain
and, if you’re lucky, moose, bear, eagles and even more
wildlife. Alaska’s wilderness is simply awesome!
An Alaska CruiseTour, that combines a land tour to
the heart of Denali, as well as inland cities and villages,
with a premium cruise along Alaska’s southeast coast, is
the best way to explore America’s last great frontier.
You will visit indigenous Indian villages, ride the rails of the Alaskan Railroad, pan
for gold, go whale watching and enjoy other exciting included and optional activities
during a six-day group tour hosted by a Celebrity professional guide. From Fairbanks
you will journey through the heart of Alaska to Seward, before boarding the premium-
class Millennium ocean liner for a 7-night coastal cruise to Vancouver. You will see the
ice fields of Hubbard Glacier and visit the gold rush towns of Ketchikan, Skagway and
Juneau, the state capital. This travel opportunity is described on the following pages.
Your Alaskan Expedition begins under the
midnight sun your upon arrival in Fairbanks.
Exploring Fairbanks means participating in the day-
to-day experiences that have contributed to
Fairbanks referring to itself as ‘extremely Alaska’.
For example, you can immerse yourself in the same
hot springs where more than a century ago gold
miners found a reprieve from the near-freezing
creeks where they panned for gold. Or pan for gold
yourself in one of the many creeks that still turn up
flakes of gold.
Admire the enduring native art treasures on display
at the Museum of the North, whose shimmering
contours reflect the mountain ranges that encircle
it. With the locals playing late into the night, like
the midnight sun baseball game held every solstice,
your options to explore are as lengthy as the long
summer nights.
Hugging the northern bank of the Chena River that
converges with the unyielding Tanana, the Chena
sternwheelers that navigate Fairbanks’s waters
afford breathtaking views of the city and country-
side, while also offering a glimpse into Alaska’s rich
interior traditions. You will board the riverboat
Discovery for a cruise down the river to a native
Indian village, pet Husky puppies and learn how a
bush pilot lands his plane on the river.
And as the gateway to the Arctic, Fairbanks is rich
with the history of Alaska’s pioneers, and offers a
window into their authentic Alaskan way of life that
still exists today.
Nestled on the banks of the Chena, Pike’s Water-
front Lodge, with scenic views and easy access to
downtown attractions—your lodging in Fairbanks
Riverboat Discovery sternwheeler cruise on the Chena
On Day Three, you will board the Wilderness
Express, a doom-top Alaska Railroad car for the
scenic ride to Denali and the Denali Park Village,
near the park entrance.
You will learn
about the park and
explore portions of
Denali’s only road
(92 miles long).
There are nature
trails near the
lodge and several
optional excursions to heighten your experience
during your two nights there.
Your next overnight stop is
Talkeetna, which is yours to
discover. Explore the nature
trails surrounding the lodge or
you can mill with the hippies,
aviators and adventures who
call the town home.
The Wilderness Express takes
you next to Anchorage where
you will visit the Anchorage
Museum of native art and arti-
facts before exploring the “big
apple” of the north on your
own.
Your final rail journey ends in
fishing village of Seward.

Celebrity Millennium
Launched in 2001 to mark the new Millennium, the premium
class Celebrity Millennium received a grand makeover in
2016, which added the Celebrity iLounge, an ice-topped
Martini Bar, Café al Bacio & Gelateria, a Cellar Masters Wine
Bar and the unique Qsine specialty restaurant. Its Rooftop
Terrace gives you a chic way to experience the great out-
doors, with creative cocktails, favorite snacks, and movies
alfresco. This 9,100-ton ocean liner hosts 2,138 guests and
sports a maximum cruising speed of 24 knots. Upgraded
accommodations, excellent dining, onboard entertainment
and activities make Millennium the best choice for cruising
Alaskan waters on the second half of your CruiseTour.
In Seward, you will board
the Millennium and, during your
first full-day aboard, cruise the
Hubbard Glacier ice fields.
In Juneau, the state Capital, you may go whale
watching, explore a second glacier or experience
other optional excursions off the ship. Be sure to
lunch at the Red Dog Saloon, if you can get in.
You also can take a tram up a mountain for a
great view overlooking the city.
Next, you will visit the heart of the 1898 gold
rush when you arrive in Skagway. The Yukon
and White Pass railroad offers an exciting trip up
the mountain into Canada (take your passport).
Before retuning to the ship, you also should
explore Skagway’s downtown looking for native
craft shops not just souvenir shops.
At Icy Strait Point, you will visit a Tlingit
village and experience the native culture of
these Northwest Coast people. Alternatively, you
might brave the 1,800-foot Zip-Line drop, or go
fishing for Halibut or Salmon for half a day.
Ketchikan is another fishing village, where you
may explore the town, take in a lumberjack
demonstration, or visit a Totem Pole village.
You will cruise the Inside Passage en route to
Vancouver, B.C. on your final full day. You will
appreciate the Alaska naturalist onboard, who
provides daily lectures throughout the cruise.
