RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research agenda is to produce scholarship in service to society. I expose barriers to building beloved communities supportive of Black racial uplift and self-determination. Striving towards a radical, Afrocentric-feminist planning agenda, I use ethnography, historical research and quantitative data analysis to tell planning stories from marginalized groups’ perspectives. The geographic focus is the Caribbean region, particularly Haiti; Caribbean ethnic enclaves in the U.S.; and the transnational networks which connect the Caribbean diaspora across space andtime.
