Well We increased in our populationAnd we knew what we had to do:America must control all surrounding areas,And we know just where that is found. We invaded Puerto Rico in 1824.Tried capturing Peru, but they held us back that day.We had some issues with the British and a war,America prevailed and we plowed right along. We wanted to own all of the islandsAnd we went to the Pacific lands. We decided that we’d attack Japan,But this left us a wound in our fleet.

To capture more land we went to war with the Spanish.

The USS Maine was sunk due to the attempt.

They say that McKinley isn’t in his right mind,

But it proved to work out in some time

When we signed the Treaty of Paris

Which caused Guam and Hawaii to be annexed.

The Rough Riders were made famous now,

And among them is Teddy Roosevelt.

Now Roosevelt has taken office,

After McKinley was shot and killed.

This led us to winning the war with the Philippines

Which just added to our captured land.

A treaty is signed with the US and England,

And it allows the Panama Canal to arise.

Following this we captured Central American countries,

And made deals that bought more land overseas.

Signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1898.

We had opened up the great canal,

And gained two states that weren’t with our land.

We captured some Carribean islands,

And were involved in war world wide.

America influenced the results of history,

By taking countries that were close and far away.

Like all the other countries we had expand then.

And many of our territory remains.

Maybe someday they will states or countries,

But Imperialism has its grip on their own fate.
