Lifeguard Certification Course

American Red Cross

Campus Recreational Services will be offering an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course May 1—May 9, 2009.

This course is designed to prepare participants for employment as a lifeguard at a pool environment. Lessons will include professionalism, surveillance, victim recognition, equipment-based rescues and

caring for head, neck & back injuries.

• All sessions will take place in the East Gym on the Binghamton University campus. • The course is open to all BU students, faculty/staff, affiliates and community members

(ages of 15 yrs. and older). Must be in sound physical condition & capable of training. • The course fee is $225 and includes course manual, pocket mask and 3 certificates. • Participants must meet course pre-requisites*. Those not meeting the pre-requisites

will be given a refund, minus 10% processing fee. • Participants must register in person in the East Gym, Membership Services Office,

Rm. 139, open Mondays—Fridays 10am-4pm. • Participants must attend all skill sessions and pass all skill & written evaluations. • For more information, call Jennifer Dube at 607-777-4883.
