This course is designed to prepare participants for employment as a lifeguard at a pool environment. Lessons will include professionalism, surveillance, victim recognition, equipment-based rescues and caring for head, neck & back injuries. All sessions will take place in the East Gym on the Binghamton University campus. The course is open to all BU students, faculty/staff, affiliates and community members (ages of 15 yrs. and older). Must be in sound physical condition & capable of training. The course fee is $225 and includes course manual, pocket mask and 3 certificates. Participants must meet course pre-requisites*. Those not meeting the pre-requisites will be given a refund, minus 10% processing fee. Participants must register in person in the East Gym, Membership Services Office, Rm. 139, open Mondays—Fridays 10am-4pm. Participants must attend all skill sessions and pass all skill & written evaluations. For more information, call Jennifer Dube at 607-777-4883. * Participants MUST be prepared to swim at all class sessions. * Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch with them on full training days. *Please bring extra clothes & a towel to all sessions.
