Football
•American football can be traced back to 1892 when William Hellifinger challenged another team to a professional game of football.
•The first league was opened in 1903 called the Ohio League.
•Today there are 32 teams in the NFL.
Football: Setup•The Field is 100 yards long.
•At the beginning, the two teams meet at center field and flip a coin to see who has possession of the ball first.
•The game is split into 4 15-minute quarters
•The quarterback executes the plays and either gives it to a reciever or a running back.
Hockey
•Ice hockey is a team sport played on ice. It is a fast paced and physical sport.
•Ice hockey is popular in Canada and the United States.
•There is a professional league called the NHL (National Hockey League).

Baseball•It is a bat-ball sport that is very
popular in the United States.
•it is played by nine men on the field and one batter. the batter tries to hit the ball and run the bases. it is played on a baseball “diamond” because the field is shaped like a diamond.
•There are 30 teams in the Major League.
Swimming•Swimming is very popular in the US
and is also a major Olympic event.
•There are 4 strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and the Butterfly.
•It takes place in a 50 meter pool.
•Michael Phelps is one of the most famous American swimmers in the world. He is an 8 time gold medal winner in the 2008 Beijing Games.
