Congratulations on making it through the summer. Good thing we have some cool residents here because this summer was a scorcher! As we welcome in the changing of seasons, take a step back and really appreciate the colors that we see toward the end of the month of October. Be sure to sign up for bus trips early and often and make sure you take a good look at our calendar and circle anything that interests you. September was busy of course. We got to welcome football back into our living rooms. We also got to celebrate our annual Grandparents Day Celebration, and as always, it did not disappoint. Thank you to all you grandparents out there, and we hope you had as good of a time as our staff did. September was good to us as we had some great entertainers by the likes of Fred Walker, Steve Troyer and even a storm chaser presentation. Bus trips included the Sparta Farmers Market, Pronto Pups in Grand Haven, and a lunch at the Circle Inn by Gun Lake. Looking to the month of October, we have plenty of activities for you all to do and to keep you busy. A few things that jump out on the schedule are the color ride-outs, Robinettes, Post Family Farm, and our annual Trick or Treaters! Enjoy the first month of fall and all that we have to offer here at Allen Springs! God Bless, Cory B. Chaplain’s CornerPlaying to Your Strengths, Part 3

A spiritual gift is, “A God-givenability that enables the Christian tofunction in God’s family with ease, efficiency and a sense ofaccomplishment.”

What are the Benefits of SpiritualGifts? I DARE you to find out!

DirectionMost people can’t tell you what

God has called them to do in theirlife. Once you get a clear vision, though, of who God made you tobe, you’ll have a clearerunderstanding of what He’s calledyou to do.

AccomplishmentTry doing this—write your name

on a piece of paper. Now switch thepen to your other hand. If you don’tfigure out your spiritual gifts, youwill spend your entire life writingwith the wrong hand.

ResourcesWhen you’re using your gifts, you

are a resource God can use tochange the world. John Maxwell likesto say: “Without God, you cannot. But without you, God will not.”

You matter! You matter to God!You matter to those around you!Unless you’re using your spiritualgifts, we’re not at full strength.

EncouragementWhen you know what they are,

you’re not bothered by what they arenot. You have freedom to be yourself.

The greatest way you can helpyourself, and people around you, is tosimply be what God created you tobe.
