News: Americans favour beer over wine in the US, with 41% of the Americans drinking beer while 31% prefer wine and 23% opting for spirits, according to
market research company Gallup. Beer intake among Americans was at its highest level in the last decade, with wine preferences s urpassing beer in 2005,
when beer's popularity had decreased to 36%. However, wine remains the most popular drink for American women, with 46% choosing it over beer and
sp irits compared with 17% of men. The number of breweries in the US reached 3,00 0 for the first time since before Prohibition, while domestic wine
production increased by 6 .3% in 2013, according to the Brewers As sociation.
