PUMP SUMMIT AMERICAS

AMERICAS

Houston’s Premiere Networking Event for Pump Experts

CALL FOR PAPERSABSTRACT DUE DATE: MAY 19TH, 2017

Our Chairman Baha Tanju invites you to attend Pump Summit Americas! It is my pleasure to take up the role of Chairman for the 2018 Pump Summit Americas Conference & Exhibition. I am extremely proud to be involved in the organization of an event that I believe to be an outstanding platform and a great resource to the pump industry. Pump Summit Americas addresses many pump applications across a variety of industries, including oil and gas, power generation, petro-chemical and water and wastewater, among many others.

From my professional perspective, the Pump Summit Americas conference provides an opportunity for people from all sides of the pump industry to come together to discuss experiences, share insights and work together to resolve common challenges. You will be able to meet experts in fields as diverse as ma-terial specification, pump operations, environmental protection, enhanced efficiency and cryogenic ap-plications. Innovations of the pump industry will be presented by expert end users, EPCs, manufacturers, suppliers, fabricators and distributors who all strive to share their knowledge. Sharing knowledge and net-

working between professionals is essential to gain benefits and grow within the industry, and to help ignite and inspire interest.

If you have an idea or a topic that you would like to see discussed, please contact us. Consider presenting your work to your peers, as delivering a paper is not only hugely rewarding, but also a way to initiate discussion. Send a short abstract for the Steering Committee to review!

Along with the entire 2018 Pump Summit Americas Steering Committee, I look forward to reading your abstracts and presenting you with an informative conference program that will challenge you to learn more about the important role that pumps play in numerous applications.

I am looking forward to a great event and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as your Chairman.

Sincerely,

Baha TanjuSr. Advisor, Subsea Control Systems

Minimize the number of slidesThis helps present a clear message and keeps your audience at-tentive and interested.

Choose an appropriate font style and size.

It’s important to ensure your audience can read the text from a distance. Select an easy-to-read font style such as Helvetica or Arial. Also, using dark text on a light background works best.

Keep your text simpleUse bullet points or short sentences and try to keep each to one line. This way your audience will listen to your presentation rather than read your PowerPoint slide. Think of your slides as reinforc-ing what you are saying.

Have a hookJust like your English high school teacher always said, the best writing, and in this case, the best presentations, catch their audi-ences’ attention early and reel them in. Open your presentation with something surprising or intriguing that will get your audience to sit up and take notice.

Write a scriptThe purpose of your slides is to illustrate and expand what you are going to say. It’s always a good idea to write out, or at least prepare, an outline of your presentation before putting together your slides.

Face your audienceEnsure that you aren’t standing with your back to your audi-ence and reading directly from the screen. If you do, your au-dience may become bored and stop listening to what you are trying to say.

Ask questionsQuestions are a good way of arousing interest, piquing cu-riosity and engaging audiences. Build tension by asking a question and letting your audience think about it for a minute, before you move onto your next slide (which will probably contain the answer). Engage in a little ques-tion-and-answer with your audience asking the questions. Interaction is key to a great presentation!
