WHAT IS OUR SCHOOL’S DESIGNATIONSTATUS AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
In 2011-2012, the Georgia Department of Education applied for a waiver seeking relief from the federal No Child Left Behind Act. As a result, the United States Department of Education agreed to use a new system, the College & Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), to report the progress of Georgia's public schools. In January 2013 the Georgia Department of Education released the final list of indicators on which schools will receive a CCRPI score. Assessments Promotion and graduation requirements
• To earn promotion to the next grade level, a child enrolled in List Grade grade must successfully master the current grade-level standards in order to earn promotion to the next grade level.
• To earn promotion to in 3rd Grade, the state requires that Georgia students in 3rd Grade pass the Reading subtest of the CRCT to earn promotion. In addition, Sumter County students must successfully master the current grade-level assessment in order to earn promotion to the next grade level.
• To earn promotion to 4th grade, Sumter County 4th graders must earn a passing score on each of the following CRCT subtests: Reading and Mathematics subtests of the CRCT to earn promotion.
• To earn promotion to 6th grade, the state requires that Georgia 5th graders pass the Reading and Mathematics subtests of the CRCT to earn promotion. Students also must successfully master the current grade-level standards in order to earn promotion to the next grade level.

FEDERAL COMPLAINTS PROCEDUREAny individual, organization, or agency may file a complaint with the Sumter County Board of Education (McBOE). If that individual, organization, or agency believes and alleges that the SCSBOE or an individual school within the Sumter County School System is violating a federal statute or regulation that applies to a program under ESEA. The complaint must allege a violation that occurred not more than one (1) year prior to the date that the complaint is received, unless a longer period is reasonable because the violation is considered systemic or ongoing. The complaint procedure is located on the Sumter County School System website. Forms are available from any school’s main office or from the central office.
