• Addresses ergonomics in the meat industry by using the collective expertise of AMI’s members to advance a culture of injury and illness prevention and the sharing of best practices and technical knowledge.

• Develop and deliver training and education programs on ergonomic issues.

• Cross-train OSHA personnel and industry safety and health practitioners in AMI’s ergonomic best practices or programs.

Outreach & Communication• Develop and disseminate information and guidance through print

and electronic media, particularly the AMI and OSHA web sites.

• Speak, exhibit, or appear at conferences, local meetings, or other events to promote the effectiveness of the AMI members’ ergonomic programs.

• Promote and encourage the AMI members’ participation in OSHA’s cooperative programs and mentoring among AMI members.

Tentative Projects Discussed:• Develop an e-Tool for the meat packing industry and review

Safety and Health Topics Meat Packing Page and determine what information should be added to the page.

• Develop a CD-rom for distribution at AMI’s Worker Safety and Human Resources Conference in March 2003.

• Develop a list of AMI members to act as contacts for OSHA’s Compliance Assistance Specialists (CASs).

• Determine the training needs and courses that that could be developed or customized for the AMI membership and the meat industry.
