could take advantage of their access, complemented by their authority and
knowledge of the facility to bypass dedicated physical protection elements or
other provisions such as safety, nuclear material control and accountancy and
operating measures and procedures. He briefed audience about Nuclear Security
Training Series (NSTS) which is a four week study tour for students from various

excellence in studies; has initiated a debating competition which gives
an opportunity to the students all over country to participate and prove
their intellect.

(Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Amity Group Additional Vice Chancellor and Di-
rector General – Amity International Business School with the participa-
tion of more than 100 students from different institutions of country like
Faculty of Law – Delhi University; Birla Institute of Technology; Army
Institute of Management & Technology; DAV College – Amrtisar, Amity
Law School, Amity School of Communication, Amity International Business
School etc. The competition was divided into rounds, each having differ-
ent themes.
The theme of first round was “Make in India is an important determinant of India’s development strategy.” In this round the participants were required to make video of their speech speaking For or Against the
motion and after screening all the presentations, 30 students qualified
for the second round. Second round comprised of on the spot extempo-
re round wherein all the 30 participants presented their oratory skill on
the different topics.
12 participants were qualified for the Semifinal rounds. The theme of
the Semifinal round was “Theoretical education is not yielding employ-ment. Only skill based education can solve the problem”.
Three Groups were made For and Against the motion. Judges of Semifi-
nal round were Col D.K. Salwan, President – Army Welfare Housing
Organisation; Mr. Pankaj Sharma, Partner – NEO.com; Mr. Vinay Ku-
mar, COO – Thompson Digital India; Ms. Shweta Singh, Asst. Consult-
ant – TCS.
Prof. (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Amity Group Additional Vice Chancellor and
Director General – Amity International Business School blessed the par-
ticipants with the motivational speech. Prof. Singh said that most im-
portant skill which every youngster should imbibe is to how to carry
oneself on stage. Debating is the biggest ability and one should devel-
op the habit of debating. It gives you motivation and critical
aptitude to counter the point of opponents. He further stated
that debate is an art and while debating posture, voice modu-
lation, gesture, oratory skill is tested. Debater always fights
back whether in debate competition or in life challenges.
The Semifinal Round witnessed the fierce battle of oratory
skills. Each participant presented their view points on For or
Against the motion on the topic “Theoretical education is not yielding employment. Only skill based education can solve the
problem”.
While Shaley Sharma speaking for the motion, said the skill
India is need of the hour and we have to make India as skill
capital of world. Echoing her views, Vidhi Madan said that
practical knowledge gives you deeper information and people
are judged on the basis of their skills. Upendra also shared the
same views by saying that only 15% of degree holders get
jobs, it is because of lack of skills. He presented a unique
thought of IT+IT = IT i.e. Indian Talent + Information technology
leads to India Tomorrow.
Countering the view points and speaking against the motion,
Simran Kaur said that life starts from theory, if theory is missing
how practicality can be taught. If there is no theory, how can
doctors, engineers or lawyers are created. Expressing the same
thoughts, Satish said that even for professional courses like
management, IT etc one has to read management principals,
theories or computer codes and than only that knowledge can
be applied practically in job, company or software.
The teams which won the semifinal and qualified for the finals
were: Team A comprising of Yashdeep, Shubham, Naina and
Satish. Team B having Manya, Simran, Nichal and Upendra.
The finals of Amity National Debate Competition will be orga-
