Features and benefits

Manufactured exclusively by Yara at its Sluiskill plant, AMIDAS is a granular, urea-based fertilizer that contains sulphur in the readily available and most effective sulphate form - 40% N + 14%SO3. Sulphur uptake by plant roots is increased as a result, and because nitrogen and sulphur are contained in every granule of AMIDAS fertlizer, spreading is highly accurate with no risk of segregation.

AMIDAS fits in perfectly with Yara’s philosophy of applying sulphur to crops little and often, rather than in one large application early or late in the season. In oilseed rape for example, small regular applications of sulphur have been shown to deliver a 4% increase over a single early application, and an 11% increase in yield over late applications or zero sulphur applications (see Fig 1).

AMIDAS contains 5% ammoniacal nitrogen and 35% ureic nitrogen in every granule. The ammonium can be taken up directly by the plant to give an immediate response, whereas the urea must first be transformed in the soil before becoming available for plant uptake. This combination is unique to Yara and gives the benefits of rapid nitrogen uptake and reduced risk of volatilisation, so increasing use efficiency.

AMIDAS can be applied to a wide range of arable crops and grassland, and its 5:1 N to S ratio is ideal for oilseed rape and other brassica crops too.

As with all Yara products, AMIDAS is formulated exactly to the declaration so that you can be sure that “What’s on the bag is in the bag”. Non-hazardous for storage, Yara supplies AMIDAS from its facilities at Dundee and Immingham.

Yara trials on oilseed rape in Lincolnshire, 2013, showed a 4% yield increase applying sulphur little and often throughout the season vs. a single early application, and an 11% increase over a late or zero application.

Did you know?

Data from Lancrop Laboratories samples analysed between January and June 2014 showed that 34.4% of UK oilseed rape tissue samples were below the ideal sulphur nutrient guideline and 70.1% were below the ideal guideline for wheat.

Application Rates Recommendation

500kg of AMIDAS per ha delivers 200kg of N plus 70kg of SO3 per ha as per Yara’s recommendation.
