Pattern Starts1. Body (see Fig.1)Start in C4 (Bright Peach).

Make a chain for 13 sts, start 2nd st from hook. Move onto the Tail piece, no need to fasten off.

1. Starting chain. 2. End of 1st round. 3. End of 3rd round.

4. End of 4th round. 5. Yellow shade band growing.

6. Adding the secondshade of green.

7. Almost ready to add the main colour in!

8. Alternate place of sc increases for a smoother curve.

9. Fold in half to add in the tail.

2. Tail (see Fig.2)Fold the body in half, use the corner 16 stitches to start the tail. Either fasten off and reattach to the corner or carry on work straight from body.

Fasten off, sew up the tip.

10. Use the 16 sts in the corner to start the tail.Count 8 stitches from either side of the centerfold to keep it nice and even.

11. Decrease everyround along the top for a nice shape.

12. Sew to the tipwhen tail is at 6 sts.

13. The bottomedge of tail sits flat with the body!

The central sections are staying as 10 stitches either side throughout, the shape is increasing by 3 stitches at either end until last round.

Note:

19. Put in the safety eyes betweenrounds 6-7.

23. Attach the yarnafter the head and work repeat patternacross both halvesof the body.

24. These smallbumps will bethe centres of the spikes innext row.

25. Last 3 bumpsalong the tail are a little smaller.

26. Turn work andmake the spikesover the bumps.

27. Between each spike slip stitchinto the middle of the sc group.

28. When you getall the way acrossthe spine slip stitchinto the body and fasten off.

14. Next make thehead and line it up with 20sts onother side of body.

15. Count 10stsfrom the fold, start attachingthe head.

Fasten off, leave a tail for sewing.

Sew to the opposite side of the body around the last 20 stitches when folded up. (See photos 14-17)

Add safety eyes, tighten up starting chain gap if needed. Add stuffing to head, tail & body.

Next it’s time to close the spine of the body and decorate it with spikes - we will do this at the same time.

The first row of spikes will stitch together the spine, the second add the spikes. (See chart on next page for guidance)

4. Spikes (See Fig.3) Make in main colour. Attach yarn right behind the head, joining both sides of body together with the stitches.

Row 1: (1 sc in next 2 st, {1 sc, ch2, 1dc, ch2, 1 sc} in next st, 1sc in next 2 st) repeat 9 times (this goes over the whole curve of the back), 1 sc in next st, 1sc in corner where the tail starts. [9 spike bumps]

The next stitches are worked into the tail along the top edge, space them evenly to get 3 smaller tail spikes: (2 sc, {1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc} in next space) repeat 3 times, 2 sc upto tail tip, sl st into tip, turn work. [3 small bumps]

Row 2: ch1, (skip next st, 2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st, sl st between next 2 st) repeat 3 times, (2 hdc along next 2ch sp, 1 dc in same ch sp, 1dc in next st, ch1, 1dc in next ch sp, 2 hdc in same ch sp, skip 2 st, sl st before next st, skip 2 st) repeat 10 times, sl st nearthe head to complete.

Fasten off and weave in loose ends.

20. Check that the eyes align from the front.

21. If your startingchain looks a bitgappy sew it up.

22. Now stuff dino’s head, tail and body like a taco!

Finishing up - all we need now is to add the feet!
