She has mentored others on teaching, is a trainerfor the U of L's Instructional Skills Workshop, has chairedmany Committees and supervised many MSc students withinthe DSB, has held several SSHRC grants, is on the EditorialReview Board for five journals, and is currently a Tier I Boardof Governors Research Chair. She also makes excellentscones!

His love of puns is legendary, but they are alwaysquite "sharp" - and though others try to match him, theyoften fall "flat" in comparison.

Anne Dymond teaches art history and museum studies andwas the Board of Governor’s Teaching Chair from 2018-20.She’s been integral to the University’s refugee activities, forwhich she was awarded the Senate Volunteer award and theYWCA Women of Distinction Award. Her book DiversityCounts, has recently been reviewed as "a path-breakingstudy and an invaluable contribution to our understanding ofthe contemporary art scene in Canada."

Jodie is a proud graduate from the U of L and has spent 20years positively impacting various areas of our campus. Shecurrently holds the position of Director of the UniversitySecretariat (Governance) in the Office of the President and isgreatly invested in the continued success of the University ofLethbridge. Jodie has made significant contributions to goodgovernance at the U of L. She has been instrumental inenhancing the transparency of governance in part by bringingour many constituent groups to the various tables to ensureall voices are heard.

Her background inEducational Research Methodology makes her one of our mostpopular thesis supervisors and committee members. While wewill miss her quick wit and sense of humour in administration,we know our students will celebrate her return to her academicroots.

Dr. Blaine Hendsbee is a leader of the voice area and directorof the UofL Opera Workshop ensemble. He has influenced anentire generation of singers as a gifted teacher of voice and isa brilliant operatic Tenor, having appeared in opera housesacross North America. Dr. Hendsbee retires next Fall afternearly 22 years of shaping the artistic lives of countlessgrateful students in the Department of music.

Mary Kavanagh is a Professor and a Board of GovernorsResearch Chair, Tier I in Fine Arts. She joined the Departmentof Art in 2000 where teaches art studio and theory, and hasserved as Department Chair and Graduate Program Chair. Hermulti-faceted projects have been exhibited and published tocritical acclaim across Canada and the U.S., with her recentexhibition, Daughters of Uranium, described as "awunderkammer for the nuclear age."

Stefan Kienzle20 Years

Stefan is a world leader in hydrological modeling and hasbeen making an impact in Alberta and elsewhere, especiallyin relation to watershed management. Twenty years ago,Stefan decided to leave this lucrative industry to take up anacademic post. Twenty years later, the university is trying toconvince him to go back to industry without the pay thatgoes that with it, as we follow our new strategic planemphasizing commercialization.

Kevin Matis started in Admissions at the University ofLethbridge, working his way up to Admissions Supervisor beforejoining the Faculty of Education in December 2011. As a ProgramSpecialist in the Faculty of Education’s Graduate Studies andResearch office Kevin helps students navigate their graduateprograms, providing critical support and guidance along the way.Kevin has developed a well-deserved reputation among faculty,staff and students as a solutions-focused advisor; he is a stalwartsupporter of students and the institution, is extremely positiveand knowledgeable, and is always quick to lend a hand to thosein need.

Robert joined the U of L in 2000 and started his path throughthe professorial ranks to the Dean of the School of GraduateStudies, then to the Dean of Health Sciences, and most recentlyas the Interim Vice President Research. Dr. Wood hascontributed to the vitality of our academic programs andresearch through his own scholarship and significantcontributions as an academic leader during his 20 years at the Uof L. Robert has made significant contributions to the growthand development of the U of L as a comprehensive university.

Wei Xu makes an important contribution to the Department ofGeography & Environment, not only as a China specialist, but inhis approaches to understanding human decision making inrelation to spatial issues through quantitative modelingtechniques. In his twenty years, Wei has rarely read an entireemail sent by one of his department members and even thoughhe has formally approved this citation, there is no way that heactually read it.
