New Needs SHF, born February 18, 2004, started school in September at the Fuzhou School for the Disabled (he is deaf). He is a first year boarding student and while there are no tuition fees for him, 600 RMB is his boarding fee. 11 children in foster homes, a scholarship student, and two Amity Grandmas. XFF (left), who turns 13 in November, and suffers from CP and delayed brain development, enjoys talking with others and has much improved speaking skills. She also has improved her ability to take care of herself. Fuzhou Social Welfare Institute The Fuzhou Social Welfare Institute’s foster families are scattered in different locations around Fuzhou. These families are very warm and loving towards the children and have extensive experience in the foster care program. The children are growing up happy and healthy in the homes. Most of the children are disabled. Aside from the Amity foster families, the interviewers went to see children in other foster care programs through the orphanage.
