their properties’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) will be adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Bearing Sectional Committee and
approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1982 and has now been revised to align with the current ISO
Standard ISO 4378 -1 : 2009.
This Indian Standard consists of the following parts, under the general title Plain bearings — Terms,
definitions, classification and symbols:
