NEW MILLENNIUM

• Indian cinema has now reached international audiences.

• A revolution of sorts has happened in terms of defining glamour, entertainment, budgeting, marketing and box office reports.

CHANGE OF THEMES OVERTIME

Earlier Bollywood films were largely based on

mythology and stories from the Hindu epics

Mahabharata and Ramayana.

Later onwards movies shifted focus on the concept

of joint families and what was the relation between a

daughter-in-law (bahu) and her mother-in-law (saas)

CURRENT SCENARIO

Showcasing serious, current issues like Tum Mile

which focused on the 26th July floods in Mumbai.

Some movie themes are based on certain

personalities, like Mary Kom.

Whereas a few concentrate on youth and the fatal

side of the silver screen, for example, Heroine or

Student of the Year.
