101 Perfect Waves - is an international mural project designed by artist Hilton Alves to paint 101 murals featuring perfect waves, beach scenes and marine life around the world.

THE IDEA Born in 1980 and raised in Guaruja, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Hilton began painting professionally in 2000. The artist brought his art to another level in 2004 when he began painting murals. His murals convey the awe of the ocean and bring viewers closer to the earth's precious marine life and perfect waves. Hilton's public, commissioned and commercial murals can be admired in Santos, Guaruja, Sao Paulo, Bahia and Floripa in Brazil and on Oahu in Hawaii. After painting a big wave mural at Kahuku High and Intermediate School, where Hilton finished the wall after an impressive four days of work, he was determined to paint more murals like that around the world. The project aims to bring the magnificence and power of the ocean to cities around the world through art.

To remind people of the beauty and power of the oceans throughout art. To inspire people to protect the oceans and all marine life. To document the feat through time and showcase the artists growth. To promote art in public spaces which celebrates nature and the earth’s natural resources.

Once the mural site is determined, Hilton envisions several images and completes sketches to show how the mural may look like. With the size and image in mind, preliminary planning takes place to determine the time frame and material needs. Next, Hilton will secure the necessary approval from the various parties who will be involved in the 101 Perfect Waves mural project. Hilton will work with local community and corporate sponsors and volunteers to secure the necessary funds and resources to make the artwork come to life.  

   101 Perfect Waves – International Mural Project BOOK Each of the 101 murals will be documented and once the project is complete Hilton will release a commemorative book about the project. VIDEO DOCUMENTARY In addition to the commemorative book Hilton will also release a documentary tracing the journey towards completing the project and inevitably the artists growth through this time.
