A MESSAGE FROM MAX
Welcome to the 14th Annual MAX Conference for human service professionals!“MAXimizing the Possibilities: Pathways to Promotion”One of the biggest challenges for human service providers is finding and keeping staff. Unfortunately, too often excellent people leave because they feel they cannot financially afford to stay. The message that MAX wants everyone to know is that this is a very viable field with many options to stay and have a very successful career. You will hear many stories from people who have actually done it…
We have lined up a dynamic keynote, and some fabulous panelists with some awesome stories. Back by popular demand is the MAX Service Excellence Award to honor staff who have gone above and beyond in their daily work in MAX member organizations.
So I hope you can come join us for a day of information, networking, door prizes, fun and celebration!
A big “thank you” to the MAX Conference committee for all the work they have done in planning such a wonderful day.

Our 2019 Keynote Speaker
Valerie Brown has close to 30 years experience working in the IDD field. She began her career as a Direct Support Professional. She is employed at Resources for Human Development, where she held a
number of positions for over 24 years. Currently, she serves as their PAIDD Division Quality Assurance Director.
Valerie has a strong drive and will to deliver quality service and create positive social impact in the communities in which RHD serves. She is passionate about helping others grow personally and professionally. Valerie is a strong advocate for the Direct Support Professional, expressing the need to “Fix the DSP” wages so that they receive a living wage for the important work that they do.
Over the years Valerie has held many community leadership roles, but her most prideful moment is when she served as the President of the Mt. Airy Bantams Youth Association. This program supports more than 300 youth in cheerleading and football. “Caring, impacting, and advocating” is her mission.
Valerie is a proud and active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She is a native of Philadelphia.
