How ED contributes to experiments?
Electronics support to ALICE and LHCb
electronics coordination
system architecture definition (specs from physics requirements, high level simulation)
functional design coordination (collaboration within CERN or institutes, project management)
system and device implementation
device characterization and test (functional, perform. optimization and rad tolerance)
mass production management, system integration and commissioning
follow up for installation and operation support
ALICE technical support until first full energy ion beam
Future support to other activities as resources become available
1) contribution to projects for LHC experiment upgrading (e.g. Alice Pixels & TPC, LHCb Velo)
2a) R&D for future applications (pending approval by management, EUDET)
2b) participation to next common system developments
