documented by scientist – with an

approximate 11 million species living on

the planet today.

Last year, scientists discovered this new species of

amphibian - the Klingon Newt– along with over

100,000 other new species over the past several years.

In the 1700’s, Carl Linnaeus

developed the system of

scientific classification that

we still use today. He is

considered the father of

taxonomy. Taxonomy is the

science of describing,

naming, and classifying
