In MENA Region

• The total number of Facebook users stands at 27,711,503 (as of April 2011), almost doubled since the same time last year (14,791,972 in April 2010).

• The number of Facebook users in increased by 30% in the first quarter of 2011.

• Youth (between the ages of 15 and 29) make up around 70% of Facebook users.

• Slight increase in the percentage of female users, rising from 32% at the end of 2010 to 33.5% in the first quarter of 2011

Why Now?

In GCC Region

• GCC countries still dominate the top 5 Arab Facebook users as percentage of population, with Lebanon being the only exception. The UAE remains at the top of the MENA region. 

• In terms of numbers, the number of users from Saudi Arabia is actually higher than all the other GCC states combined.

Why Now?

In Bahrain

• Total Facebook users is 289,360 users with a penetration of 39.2% of the population.

• Youth (between the ages of 18 and 34) make up around 62% of Facebook users.

• Facebook is still dominated by male users, about 57% of the total users.

Why Now?

In MENA Region

• The estimated number of active Twitter users in the MENA region at the end of March 2011 was 6,567,280, of which 1,150,292 were ‘active’ users.

• The estimated number of tweets generated in the MENA region in the first quarter of 2011 by these ‘active’ users was 22,750,000 tweets. The estimated number of daily tweets is 252,000 tweets per day, or 175 tweets a minute, or roughly three tweets a second.

• The estimated number of daily tweets per active user in the MENA region in Q1 of 2011 is 0.81 daily tweets.

Why Now?

In GCC Region

• Qatar and Bahrain have a the highest penetration rates in the GCC region, and enjoy high rates of users accessing Twitter from their mobile.

• Over 50% of tweets within the first quarter of 2011 were generated by Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia.

Why Now?

In Short..

• As of January 2011, total LinkedIn users has reached 101 million, with over 70% of its population aged between (25 to 54 years old).

• The MENA region has about 2.6 million LinkedIn users that is male dominant (77% is male), with 43% of its population aged (25 to 34 years old).

• As of January 2011, LinkedIn has over 40,000 registered users in Bahrain
