Technology Conference 2012
May 15-17, 2012 South Padre Island Convention Centre
Sponsored By Region One ESC Office of Information Technology
& Participating School Districts
3
Dear Technology Conference Participants, The Region One ESC Technology Conference has fast become “the” technology event of the year, attracting well over 800 participants throughout the state and over 100 exhibitors from throughout the nation. This conference gives participants the opportunity to attend sessions presented by leaders in the field of educational technology. In addition, industry representatives showcase the latest in educational computer hardware, software and multi‐media solutions. The objective of this conference is to help school district personnel integrate technology into their classrooms and throughout their district functions. This is an ideal time for teachers, administrators, librarians, and technology specialists to learn more about how technology plays a role in today’s classrooms and the classrooms of tomorrow. This year, we will offer approximately 132 sessions focusing on “technology best practices.” We look forward to your participation in our sessions and vendor exhibits. Our conference is planned and coordinated by a dedicated committee of school district volunteers and our Region One ESC staff. We would like to take this opportunity to thank these individuals for their many hours of hard work and dedication to ensure that our conference is a success. We welcome your feedback regarding the conference and hope you enjoy your time with us! James Mendoza, Director Office of Information Technology

Dress Code
Educators and exhibitors coming to South Padre Island are encouraged to dress casually when attending “Technology Conference 2012.” (Due to temperature tolerance levels, we recommend you bring a sweater or light jacket.) This will create a relaxed atmosphere for all participants. South Padre Island has a city ordinance which outlaws the "tie”... and proclaims that “it has become necessary to further protect our visitors and citizens. Ties have been spotted in hotel lobbies, along Padre Boulevard, and even poolside at some of our most exotic resorts. The very appearance of a tie causes a discordant note for our visitors, sometimes causing serious regression back to their humdrum and ordinary business lives.” South Padre Island
Located on the tropical tip of Texas in the Rio Grande Valley, South Padre Island is convenient by car or by plane and only 25 minutes from Mexico. If you’re traveling by car, take Interstate Highway 37 South from San Antonio to US Highway 77, then East on Texas Highway 100, or fly into the Rio Grande Valley via American, Continental, or Southwest Airlines. Two airports, Harlingen’s Valley International Airport (35 miles) and Brownsville’s International Airport (25 miles), offer convenient air service. Airports
