PRIMARY (DX) REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS

SECONDARY REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS

100% Refrigerant Charge from Compressors to Condensers to

Evaporators

Very Small Refrigerant Charge – Chilled HYCOOL Pumped to Room Coils

PRIMARY (DX) REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS

The primary refrigerant (NH3, R404A, R22, etc) is sent

to all zones and fills the entire system at high pressure.

Refrigerant changes state (liquid to vapor) in the

room/zone evaporators.

SECONDARY REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS

The primary refrigerant is confined to the chiller,

utilizing a very small charge of refrigerant.

A secondary fluid is chilled and pumped to each zone

at a much lower pressure.

THE KEY INGREDIENT

 Excellent thermodynamic

properties

 Low Viscosity vs. Glycol

Comparison Between HYCOOL and Propylene Glycol

Above left & right: Comparison between fluid velocity through a 180° bend in pipework (in fluid cooler). Note: HYCOOL remains turbulent throughout the entire bend and fluid velocity stays above 0.87 m/s. Propylene Glycol drops as low as 0.57 m/s and has a much lower average velocity.

Right: Pumping power required to move Glycol vs. HYCOOL

George Fisher +GF+ Pipework

+GF+ COOL-FIT Piping System

PROVEN IN EUROPE FOR 10+ YEARS

 Full-circle Simplicity

 NO plant/compressor room required!

 LOW MAINTENANCE

◦ Air Cooled – No Cooling Tower

◦ No Water Treatment

◦ No Trapped Oil in Coils

◦ Simplified Refrigeration Circuit – Fully Contained in Chiller

PACKAGED LIQUID CHILLERS PROVIDE: Factory built pre-commissioned chillers

Factory built-in control panels and hydronics.

 Less pipe work and materials.

Engineered to be compatible with Hycool

Only power supply and simple flow and return pipes needed

Low pressure < 3 bar circulating fluids throughout entire refrigeration system: plant area to cold

rooms.

High-Efficiency Hydrocarbon Refrigerants Frigadon chillers are now available with the R1270 natural refrigerant with ZERO GWP

Use of this refrigerant can increase compressor Coefficient of Performance (COP) by 10%

Requires a smaller charge in the refrigeration circuit

Up to 28’-10” (8.8m) long

BLOW THROUGH COILS FOR CA

Room Coil Selection

SIZING FLUID COOLERS

 Manageable coil temperature

 Low TD across coil

 Wide coils with smaller fans

 Minimize short-circuiting using

baffles around coils

 High Air-Flow Per Bushel

2012 Stainless Steel Edition

CONTROL PANELS Energy Management System can control refrigeration, lighting, ventilation, and more.

Demand-limiting by disabling chiller circuits and limiting rooms cooling.

Intelligent refrigeration control to minimize energy use while emphasizing product quality.

Real-time Energy Data identifies voltage, current, power, and demand instantly, rather than waiting for the

electric bill to come. Identify power-saving strategies instantly.

Combined with chillers, KILOWATCH allows new efficient methods of cooling and defrosting

KILOWATCH™ Energy Management System

Once pulldown is finished, fans no longer run 100% of the time

Fans run 100% during cooling, then shut down.

<50% of fans start periodically to “stir” the air

DYNAMIC STIRRING uses temperature probes throughout the room to identify

temperature differences from areas in the room.

 Color touchscreen – Easy-to-use interface

 REALTIME Energy Usage Data

Ethernet connectivity – control anywhere in the world

from a Mac, PC or Smartphone

Daily email status reports with all O2/CO2

 Alarm notifications to smartphone

 Export-Certified Temperature Logging Built-in
