At Martindale Public School, our vision is to prepareconfident, proud and proactive learners and citizens whowill successfully meet the diverse challenges of the rapidlychanging world of the 21st Century.
We aim to teach and guide each of our students to gain thetools and skills needed to be highly engaged learners whoare curious about their world and to fulfil their potentiallearning and life goals including building emotional andethical qualities and understandings.
We endeavour to develop appreciation and inclusivity ofthe increasing diversity of cultures, including indigenousAustralians, in our larger community. It is our aim thatstudents be respectful, resilient and take responsibility fortheir actions.
The school and its community have high expectations ofstudents and value the provisions of a variety of learningopportunities which enhance the students’ knowledge ofthe world in which they live. Through quality teaching andmany varied programs, we work collaboratively as a staffand community to achieve our vision statement;
“Where the school and the community work activelytogether preparing the children for the challenges of thefuture.”
Martindale Public School is a small, rural school existingwithout a village, so it is truly the‘’heart’’ of the community.Nestled in the Martindale Valley and with Wollemi NationalPark visible on both sides of the valley, we are close to thenearby communities of Denman and Muswellbrook.
The school caters principally for the families of theMartindale Valley and Bureen area, just as it has donesince 1926.
School enrolment figures have averaged in the mid to highteens over the last five years. Currently there are studentswho identify as ATSI and there is a higher proportion ofgirls to boys. The majority of our families are currentlycomplete units. The schools Family OccupationandEducational Index (FOEI) rating is 113 which indicates anelement of disadvantage.
The teaching staff consists of the Principal and onetemporary teacher. There is one permanent part–timeadministrative staff, and one temprary School LearningSupport Officer, and a part–time GA.
Martindale Public School consists of two separate learningspaces, a combined library, administrative area andprincipals office, as well as a staffroom/canteen. Ourtechnology learning program is well equipped with IPadsand robotics. Well–maintained grounds comprising of mature trees on the boundaries and two open grass areasprovide a safe and secure environment. We have fixedplay equipment incorporating a cubby and a separatesandpit. Our chook pen and vegetable garden, providestudents with the opportunity for leadership andenvironmental education activities.
