Candidate QualificationsPort of Olympia Commissioner

• Must reside and be a registered voter in the district• In the Primary, only voters within the district will vote• In the General Election, all voters within the county will vote

Candidate QualificationsCities

• Must be a resident for one year• Must be a registered voter at time of filing

Towns• Must be a registered voter at the time of filing

Candidate QualificationsSchool District Director

• Centralia School District candidates file with Lewis County• Must live in the director district to file (except Centralia and Griffin)• Must be a registered voter• When filing be sure to know what director district you live in

Fire Commissioner• Must be a registered voter• Must live within the district

• For fire authorities, candidates must live in the sub-district

Filing Week: May 13-17• Mail: April 29 – must be in Auditor’s Office no later than 4:30 p.m.

May 17• In Person: May 13-17 (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)• Online: 9:00 a.m. May 13 – 4:00 p.m. May 17• All filings (including filing fee) must be received by 4:30 p.m. May 17• Last day to withdraw is May 20 and must be in writing (filing fees are

non-refundable)

Candidate Order on BallotNonpartisan Office

• 3+ candidates: appears in the Primary

Lot drawing to determine candidate order is May 17, shortly after 4:30

Top two primary candidates move forward to the General Election

Order on General Election ballot is based on number of votes received in the Primary Election (or by the lot draw if not in Primary)

Voters’ PamphletStatements and photos are due May 24 by 4:30 p.m.but you should submit when you file.

Candidate statements are published as submitted (no changes after submission!).

The same statement and photo will appear in both the Primary and General Election local voters’ pamphlets.

Statement• 200 words or less (we use Microsoft Word to count)• Four paragraphs or less• Do not use lists or bullets• Underlining and all caps will be converted to italics

Photo• Current photo with only head and shoulders• Plain background• No props or uniforms• No smaller than 1200 x 1500 pixels
