1) Onarrivalatthecompetitionvenueyoumustcheckinatthecompetitionstewardsdesktocompleteyourregistrationandreceiveyourallottedfloorspaceandcompetitorpackpriortobringinginyourdog.Pleasenotedogsmayonlyenterthehallviathe“dogonlyentrance”,youwillbeshownthisoncheck-in

2) Youarerequiredtoprovideandprepareasuitabledogforgroomingwithinthetimeframelaidoutfortheclassentered

3) TimelimitsforallclassesincludingCreativeStylingare2hoursfordogsuptoandincluding18inches.Dogsover18inchesandanyhandstripareallowed2and½hours.Therewillbea10mintoiletbreakonehourintoeachclass.a) Poodletopknot–forthosethathaveasprayeduptopknottherewillbeanextra15minutes

aftertheclasstimeisoverforsprayingup.4) Stylingproductsmaybeusedinadogscoattoaidthegroomingprocessbutjudgeswould

generallyexpecttobeabletopullacombthroughthefinalresult5) ForallclassesexcludingCreativeandAsianthereistobenocolours,dyesorcolour

sprays/chalkstobeusedonthedogtodetractfromthenaturalcolourofthedogaswellasglitter,bowsordecorativeitems.Theusechemicallightening(bleaching)productsisnotpermitted

6) Competitorsmustsupplyandareresponsibleforalltheirownequipment-includingtables,clippers,bladesetc.Whenyourclassisfinishedcheckwhetheryouneedtoremoveeverythingfromtheringorrelocatefornextclass.

7) Limitedpowermaybeavailablefordrying,fluffingpriortocompetitionbutyouaretobringcordlessclippersfullycharged(includingsparebatteries)tocompetewith.Electrictablescanavailofthislimitedpowertoraisetablesbutwillnotbeabletouseitduringcompetitionclasstoadjusttableheights.

8) Anytutoring,coachingordirectiontoanycompetitorfromanaudienceattendee,willresultinimmediateexpulsionofthegroomerandassociateddog

9) Novice&“NewtoGrooming”classes-eligibilitymustbesubmittedwithentryandwillbecheckedandverified

10) Youareresponsibleforanydogyoubringalongthisincludesacagewhererequiredandcleaningupanymessmadebyyourdoginorinthesurroundsofthecompetitionbuilding.Aseparatecageareaisprovidedforyourdogscomfortpleaseuseit.Allcages/cratesmusthaveyourname&phonenumberclearlymarkedincaseofemergency.Anydogsshowingsignsofstresswillbeconsideredemergency.

11) Dogspresentedforallclassesshouldbefreshlywashed&driedandtotallytanglefree{Note:handstripclassonlyifrequired}

12) Precompetitiontrimmingallowedextendsonlytogroin/hygieneareaandunderpads(forpoodlesseeeachclassrule)

13) Ears,nailsandanalglandsanddemattingshouldbeattendedtoaspartoftheprecompetitionpreparationbeforeyoureachthevenue

14) Thedogneedstohaveasuggestedguidelineof8weekscoatgrowth.Anyevidentlineorpatternshouldnotbevisible.

15) Remembertheamountofcoatgrowthissuggestedasaguidelinepriortocompetition,thiscandifferwiththeindividualdog-somedogsmayneedmoretimethentheguidelinesandsomeless.Youwanttohaveenoughcoattobeabletoworkwith,toshowyourskillsandmakeavisibledifference

16) TheresultsofSaturdaysClasseswillbeannouncedattheendoftheday.ClasswinnersonSaturdaymaybeinvolvedinfurtherjudgingonSunday.Pleaseaskyourstewardforadvice.

17) TheresultsofSundaysClassesplus“IndividualDog”Trophy,“BestNovice”,“BestHandling”andOverallIrishGroomeroftheYear,BestInternationalandBestinShowwillbeannouncedonSundayafteralljudginghasbeencompleted.

18) Judgesdecisionwillbefinal-marksaregivenforpreparation,takingnoteofwhetherthedogiscleanandwellpresentedwithnailsandearsdonepriortoenteringthecompetition.Suitable/appropriatehandlingskillsbythegroomerwillalsobenoted.Thedogswelfareisparamount,roughhandlingorgroomingobservedmayresultinthegroomerbeingexcusedfromthecompetition.Neat&tidyclippinglineswillcarrygoodmarksaswillgoodtechniqueandfinishwithscissoringandhandstripping.Thesuitabilityofthedogforthetrim,andtemperamentforthewholeexperiencewillbetakenintoaccount.Balanceandshapearealsoveryimportant.

2) ClippedClass-Dogstrimmedand/orstyledusingclippedandscissoredtechniques–clippingthedogwithcombattachmentorlongbladefollowedbyscissoring“theclippedarea”isnotconsideredaclippedstylePoodleprepforclippedclass.Asthisisaclippedtechniqueclass,feetandmuzzleshavingispartofyourcompetitionclassskills.Exceptforunderpads,feetandmuzzleshouldnotbeshavedaspartofyourpreparation.a) ClippedAsianClass-Dogstrimmedand/orstyledusingclippedandscissored

4) NoviceClass-NoviceClassisopentocompetitorswhohavenotwoninothercompetitions(seerule31){withtheexceptionofCareerStart/NewtoGrooming}.Itisaclassaimedatnovicesinthegroomingprofession.Itisintendedforthosegroominglessthan3years.{eligibilitymustbesubmittedforverificationwithentry}OnwinningaNoviceclassyou

graduatetotheOpenclassification,eveniflessthanthreeyearsgrooming.Competitorscanchooseasingleormultipleclasses.OverallBestNoviceandReservewillbeannouncedonSunday,thisischosenfromalloftheNoviceFirstplacings.ForconsiderationforBestNoviceyouonlyneedtocompetewithonedog,formultipleentriesthebestplaceddogwillbeadjudicatedon.

5) NewtoGroomingClass-Entrantsmustbegroomingnomorethan1yearandhavenotcompetedbefore.{eligibilitymustbesubmittedforverificationwithentry}Competitorsinthisclasscanchooseasingleorcombinationofscissoring,clippingandhandstrippingtechniques.Onlyasingleapplicantperestablishmentpermitted.Breedspecialistsarenoteligibleforthisclass.

6) CreativeStylingClassesareopentoallgroomers.TheyarenotpartoftheIrishGroomeroftheYearadjudication.

a. Anybreedormixedbreedofdogiseligibleb. Dogsshouldbepreparedreadyforprejudgingasperregularcompetitionclassesc. Eachentrymaybecombedthroughuponprejudging.Skinandcoatmaybechecked

aftertheentryiscompletedbuteveryeffortwillbemadenottointerferewiththeintegrityofthedesign.

d. Presentationisdefinedasthecoherenceandbalanceofthedog,andbackgroundandprops(ifused)

e. Ifanelectricpointisrequiredthismustbeprebookedinadvancef. CompetitorsareenteredintoeitherSectionA:CreativeExtremeorSectionB:Salon

Creative.Definitionsofsucharebelow:g. SectionA–CreativeExtremeTheonlylimitationisyourimaginationandcreative

talents.Colouring,shaping,carving,propsetc.areallallowedaslongasthesafetyandwelfareofthedogisnotaffectedorcompromised.Colouringandbasicshapingcanbedonepriortotheclassbutfinishingcolourandstylingshouldbedoneduringtheclass.Theremustbeadiscernibledifferenceinthedogfromthestarttothefinishoftheclass.Thedogmustbeabletomovefreelywhilstwearingtheirstyle.Allproductsusedmustbenon-toxicandskinsafe.Theusechemicallightening(bleaching)productsisnotpermitted.Backdropsorpropsarepartofthisclass.Fulltransformationshouldenterthisclassratherthanthe“SalonCreativeClass”

h. SectionB-SalonCreativeClass-Thisclassisforthosewhowanttostartoffinthecreativefield.Stencils,bowsetccanbeused.Stencilsorfreehandtechniquescanbeusedtoaddtattoos,ortouchesofcolourandothercreativeembellishmentscanbeaddedtothegroom.Carvingadesignontoapre-prepared,clearcoatwithnopreviousdesigncarvedintoitisalsoallowed.Youmayuseclippers,scissorsortrimmerstocreatethedesign.Allproductsusedmustbenon-toxicandskinsafeandthesafetyandwelfareofthedogmustnotbeaffectedorcompromised. Theuseofchemical lightening(bleaching)productsisnotpermitted.IfyourentryinvolvesmajortransformationorisenhancedbyabackdroporpropspleaseenterCreativeExtreme

20) Novice,OpenandChampion-IntheScissor,AsianScissored,Clipped,AsianClippedandHandstripClassestherearethesethreesections–Onwinningaclassyouthengraduatetothenextsectionofthatclassforsubsequentyears.Seerule19.5forNoviceprogression

21) TobeeligiblefortheInternationalTrophywillmustlive&workoutside“TheIslandofIreland”OurInternationalcompetitorsaretobeawardedseparate1st-3rdplacingswithintheClipped,ClippedAsian,Scissored,ScissoredAsianandHandstripclasses.A“BestInternational”willthenbedecided.

22) “BestinShow”isdecidedbetween“BestInternational”and“IrishGroomeroftheYear”23) IrishGroomerOfTheYear-Tobeeligibleforthisawardyoumustcompetewith2dogsinclasses

detailedabove{19.1,19.2,19.3}andbeworkingasagroomerontheIslandofIreland.24) The“IndividualDogTrophy”isopentocompetitorswhojustcompeteinoneofclassesdetailed

above{19.1,19.2,19.3}eitherOpenorChampionsections.CompetingwithonedogmeanstheyarenoteligibletogoforwardfortheGroomeroftheYearbuttheyareeligibleforthisTrophy

25) OurNovicecompetitorsaretobeawardedseparate1st-3rdplacingswithintheClipped,ClippedAsian,Scissored,ScissoredAsianandHandstripclasses.Seerule19.4fordetailsofOverallNoviceTrophy

26) “HandlingandTechnique”Trophyisawardedtothecompetitordeemedtohavethebestapproach,techniqueandhandling.Allcompetitorsinclassesdetailedabove{19.1-19.6}

27) AwardedPerpetualTrophiesarenotallowedleavethevenuewithyouunlessyouareapaidupmemberofIPDGA.

28) EverycompetitorshouldhaveaphototakenoftheirdogbeforeenteringtheringwithourofficialIPDGAphotographerinthebooth.Alsoafteryouhavebeenjudged,underguidancefromthestewardonthedaysothatwe,theorganisation,haveabeforeandafterphotoshouldtherebeanykindofdiscussionbetweenthejudges.

29) ByenteringtheIPDGAgroomingChampionshipsyouherebygivepermissiontotheorganisationtofreelypublishanyphotostakenattheevent.

30) OnwinninganOpenClassyouprogresstheChampionlevelofthattechnique.31) Othercompetitions,ifyouhavewonaclassinanothercompetitionandtherewasthreeormore

inyourclassthenyouwillprogressalevel.IftherewastwoorlessthenyoustayatthesamelevelprovidingyouarenotatthetimelimitofNewtoGroomingorNovice(see19.4,19.5)

32) Nochangingofclassclassificationwillbepermittedoncetheclasshascommenced33) Organisersandjudgesreservetherighttodisqualifyanydogorcompetitorinthewrongclass34) Ifyoudecidenottocompeteinaclassyouhaveregisteredfor,kindlynotifythestewardasapso
