1. Purpose• To mediate the amendments of the trimmed

and re-organised 2020 Annual Teaching Planincluding School Based Assessment forTechnical Mathematics, Grade 10 forimplementation in June 2020 as stipulated inCircular S2 of 2020.

• To ensure that meaningful teachingproceeds during the remaining teaching timeas per the revised school calendar.

• To assist teachers with guided pacing andsequencing of curriculum content andassessment.

• To enable teachers to cover the essentialcore content /skills in each grade within theavailable time.

• To assist teachers with planning for thedifferent forms of assessment.

• To ensure learners are adequately preparedfor the subsequent year/s in terms of content,skills, knowledge, attitudes and values

2. Amendments to the Content Overview for the Phase

Summary: Amendments to the Content Overview for the Phase

Grade 10 Grade 11 Grade 12

Removed the whole topic: Finance and Growth. Grade 10 part of this topic shall be taught when teaching grade 11 part in 2021

Removed the whole topic: Finance and Growth. Grade 11 part of this topic shall be taught in grade 12 in 2021.

Left the content as it according to CAPS Document and 2017 Examination Guidelines

Removed the whole topic: Circles, Angles and Angular Movement. Grade 10 part of this topic shall be taught when teaching grade 11 part in 2021.

Removed the whole topic: Circles, Angles and Angular Movement. Grade 11 part of this topic shall be taught in grade 12 in 2021.

Left the content as it according to CAPS Document and 2017 Examination Guidelines

3. Amendments to the Annual Teaching Plan

Summary: Reorganisation of content topics

• The content which was supposed to be taught in grade 10 and 11 in 2020 under Finance, Growth and Decay as well as Circles, Angles and Angular Movement shall be taught in grade 11 and 12 respectively in 2021.

• The other topics (not trimmed) shall be taught fully in 2020 in respective grades.

Conclusion

• The topics trimmed are stand alone.• There are no topics that need pre-knowledge

form these topics. So, there shall not be a negative effect in assessment of other topics.

• 2021 ATP needs to be structured such that these topics are taught in the following grades.
