Today's student has a wealth of resourcesavailableto them on the Internet. In this lesson, students will
evaluate various online tools for studying and present the information to their peers. The jigsaw format
and presentation will allow students to learn about various resourcesavailableto them for both learning
and presenting new material.
Educational Standards
Common Core-Speaking &Listening: Comprehension & Collaboration (grades 9-12)
• Integrate multiple sources of information presented in diverse media or formats
(e.g., visually, quantitatively, orally) evaluating the credibility and accuracy of
each source.
• Present information, findings, and supporting evidence, conveying a clearand distinct perspective, such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning,
alternative or opposing perspectives are addressed, and the organization,
development, substance, and style are appropriate to purpose, audience, and a
range of formal and informal tasks.

• Utilize online collaboration and presentation software to format your findings
• Present your findings to your peers

1. In your groups, navigate your assigned web site.
2. When you have explored the tools and features on the site, create a
presentation that includes:
• Name & Location of the web site
• An overview (summary) of the site
• A list of tools avaible on the site
• A demonstration of how to use the site
• An explanation of who might find the site useful
• An analysis of difficulties someone may encounter while using the site
• An evaluation of the site in rating format (scale of 1 to 5, 1 being least,S being mostfor: effectiveness for studying, range of materials available, ease of use, likelihood
that you will utilize the site in the future).
3. Your group will present your findings to the class. Please refer to the grading rubric to
ensure that all necessary components are included.
4. Complete the rating chart for your assigned site prior to your presentation. When you
view your peers' presentations, you will complete the rating chart based upon their findings.
