Rehearsal Burton Joyce PlayersBurton Joyce Players are a vibrant group of dedicated and creative individuals striving to produce the very best in amateur theatre in the local area.
We produce three productions each year—a play in April and October and the ever-popular pantomime in January.
If you would like to have a go at ‘treading the boards’ or, just as importantly, become involved in the many support roles such as lighting, sound and wardrobe (that make things possible), then get in touch with Mel Reynolds on 0115 9871306 or email secretary@burtonjoyceplayers.co.uk.
Next productionOur spring 2019 production is the comedy
Agatha Crusty and the Village Hall Murders
by Derek Webb, which will be staged 2 – 4 May 2019.
Agatha Crusty is a crime novelist who is also pretty adept at solving crimes. When her sister-in-law invites her to spend a few days with her in the village of Chortelby, it’s not long before she gets caught up in a series of murders which seem directed at members of the village hall committee…and with a Detective Inspector of extraordinary incompetence leading the case, there are plenty of laughs as the murders begin to pile up!
An open audition will be held at 7.30pm at Burton Joyce Village Hall on Monday 4 February 2019.
For more details about the play and its characters, contact Patrick McDonough on patrickjf.mcdonough@aol.co.uk.
For their invaluable help with ticket sales, we would like to thank The Bluebird Café (Burton Joyce), Rhubarbs Café (Burton Joyce) and The Bookcase (Lowdham).

This year we are supporting the NSPCC and Jenny Farr’s Diamond Appeal.
2019 sees 60 years of dedication to the NSPCC by the wonderful Jenny Farr.
NSPCC Vice-President Jenny Farr MBE first became involved with the NSPCC after being inspired by working with children while at Nottingham City Hospital, when there was an outbreak of polio which affected 80 children. She then went on to become an NSPCC committee member in January 1959. Since then, Jenny has been at the forefront of the charity’s vital work in the city, and led a number of high profile campaigns. Jenny continues to inspire local volunteers to fundraise for Jenny Farr House in Nottingham, where vulnerable children can go to feel safe.
If you feel you can dig deep at the end of the night, your donations really will be gratefully received. Thank you.
