Hoffman Challenge, co-sponsored by Auri il ThreadCurated by Hailey Hoffman for Hoffman California FabricsStarted by Hoffman Fabrics in 1988, the Hoffman Challenge has grown to be the longest-running national traveling exhibit of quilts, clothing, and dolls. The Challenge started with 94 enthusiastic quilters, and in some years, the number of entries has grown to more than 700. This exhibit includes quilts from each of the three quilt categories, pieced, appliqué, and mixed technique. While the majority of entries come from the United States, a wide variety of international entries are received. Each year, the top entries are grouped into traveling collections and visit quilt and iber shows, seminars, quilt shops, as well as quilt and doll-makers guilds nationwide.
El's Antique Quilt Show - Pieced and Appliquéd Quilts from the 1920’s and 1930’sFrom the personal collection of Eleanor BurnsEnjoy this display of beautiful antique quilts. Each quilt is documented with the history of who designed it and how they in luenced the quilting movement of the time. Many of the designers published weekly patterns in newspapers and others published the irst books about quilt making in the United States. Eleanor’s love of antique quilts began many years ago when she irst began her own career in quilt making. She is inspired to take traditional patterns and come up with new and innovative methods to make the quilts using modern techniques and tools.
The Special Exhibits will be uniquely displayed in Hostetler’s Hudson Auto Museum amidst the world’s largest display of early 1900’s Hudson cars. Admission is included with the purchase of a day or event Quilt & Vendor Show Pass. All exhibits are open during regular show hours.
